Personally I like Microsoft. Apple uses Microsoft word, excel, and powerpoint. Kind of strange, right?

In my opinion, Windows seems easier to use and understand.

Granted however once you understand Linux it does have more features and also relies more heavily on the command line which I like.

Lol this thread. This shít always happens.

Apple make better phones and music playing devices
Aren't those synonymous nowadays? :p

Im asking in general, which company is better.
That still depends though, they're both way too large to just compare and say either one is 'better.'
Better at making money? Apple.
Better at making affordable phones? Microsoft.
Better at making browsers? Neither. :D

Lol what year is it? 2003? Nobody gets viruses anymore unless you're still on something below vista, in which case you deserve to get them :p
I also cannot comprehend how you think it is hard to use, as everyday usage is pretty close to identical to OSX's. Even mainstream linux distros are fairly easy to use nowadays.

Also Apple has viruses, far less of them but still have them.
And Microsoft's OS is really easy compared to Linux OS, but Linux is better than Windows.. and Windows is better than IOS
Linux is great but I wouldn't call it better than windows, definitely not for your average Joe.
Comparing a desktop to a mobile OS is also just plain silly.

No, not strange, as those are services with which Apple doesn't compete. They are also the industry standard, so Apple would be stupid to not incorporate and support them.

Windows main downfall is that it ain't open source...
...like OSX? This is an Apple/Microsoft thread.

More features.. which are obscure as fúck. Linux is great for developers, but don't try to pretend it's better for the average consumer as we both know that's not true (yet, perhaps)

It is, that's why "normal" people usually use Windows, and people like programmers for example use Linux
Plenty of programmers use windows too.

I would argue that some linux distributions are suitable (and better then windows) for the 'Average Joe'. Ubuntu for example there is a download page in plain English http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop. And two install guides (for installs from windows) http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/burn-a-dvd-on-windows and http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows. These guides are NOT difficult to follow and then once you install Ubuntu if you are stuck there is http://askubuntu.com/ a entire community you can ask... And also lets be honest there isn't really much to get stuck on considering the package manager is GUI and for the most part you can avoid the command line.

This goes above the heads of many already. Burning isos? Booting into the BIOS? Hell no.
Never overestimate end users, remember roughly 50% of people have an IQ below 100 :D
Also, while once installed Ubuntu and such may be usable for normal users... there's honestly still no clear advantage in using it over windows. The fact that plenty of programs aren't even compatible with linux is enough reason for the average Joe to keep using windows.
