Map backround

One of the most significant changes, when compared to the other updates, is the new world map background. This gives the player a better idea as to where he is located on the world map. Nearby farming villages, rival cities and nearby islands are easily spotted. You can drag and drop the map to explore nearby territories. Also note that the entire screen can display the map, instead of just a small rectangle like in the previous version.

Window Management

Instead of switching between different spreadsheets, the player now has the possibility to view the information in separate windows, or in parallel if you will. This will allow you to compare or analyze information more effectively. The windows can be moved over the entire interface via drag and drop. All windows can be closed, and some can even be minimize.

Notifications

The most important game events in 2.0 are displayed to the player through the brand new notification system. The notifications are small icons that appear in the bottom right corner, clicking on the notification will bring up the repective information. Examples of notifications are: attacks, awards, Resource shipments ect. This way you can always be informed about the events in and around your cities.

Improved Scrolling system

Instead of displaying "pages" when viewing reports and messages, it is now possible to view your complete reports by simply scrolling down. This is simpler and will save time when looking for reports. The traditional page system is however still available.

Initial Loading-bar

As 2.0 will need more resources and a larger amount of data, a loading bar will be displayed at the start of the game. If you allow cookies for Grepolis the loading time will be significantly reduced.

The Phoenician Trader

Arrival and visiting times

The Phoenician Trader will dock in one of your harbours every 24 hours. Having a harbour is a mandatory requirement for visits. The trader will reside in your city for a maximum of 8 hours before, visiting another one of your harbours. The player cannot select which city the Phoenician Trader will visit; it is a random variable.

Resource Exchange

The Phoenician Trader offers two possible resources for trade. The player may use the resources that is not used by the trader to pay for one of the two options. The trader operates with a trade ratio of 1:1,5. So let us give a short example:
The trader offers Wood and Stone. I know have the possibility to use silver to trade for one of those resources(not both). Lets say I want stone. 100 Silver will give me 150 Stone(trade ratio of 1:1,5)

screen2.png

Buying Troops

The Phoenician Trader can also sell Reinforcements as well. There are three different types of unit he can offer, in exchange for silver. Which unit types the trader offers is random, were as common units will appear more often. Mystical units can also appear, however the chances of them being available are slim.

[font="calisto

The World Wonders offer a new and exciting dynamic to Grepolis, which especially effects the teamplay
in the end-game. Seven new buildings will be available, which can be constructed on specific islands. If an alliance controls an entire "WW island", and if "The Age of World Wonders" requirements has been fulfilled, then the construction of the World Wonders can commence. Resources and Favor are needed for the construction.

The Age of World Wonders
The age of World Wonders begins when the following requirements are fulfilled:
 • The world has existed for longer then 9 months.
 • The Combined points of the best 50 guilds is at least 250 million.
 • 9 months after of world creation, the required 250 million score by the top alliances will be reduced by 13 million per month.

screen3.png

Winning conditions for Alliances
If an alliance can bring four of the seven world wonders under their control, they will win the world. A Hero world is now unlocked, and open to the best players of the world. Heroworlds have special settings, configurations and features exclusive to them.

[font="calisto
mt"]HADES

Hades, the god of the underworld, will aid players in the 2.0 version of Grepolis and be the fifth god available to players. His arsenal consists of a series of new spells and two new and unique mystical units.

Mystical Units
Cities worshipping Hades can use the following new units:

 • Erinyes are the hideous spawn of Hades and Persephone. These creatures fight for the wrongdoings against the dead and seek revenge on the living. Their supernatural screams drive their opponents into madness. They are the living's worst enemy.
 • Zerberus, the three headed hound of hell guards the gates of the underworld. Whoever dares to sneak past him will be viciously devoured or worse. No one has yet slain this beast.
screen4.png

Divine Powers
Four spells are available to you if you choose to worship Hades:
 • Return of the Dead: Some of your units that fell in battle are reanimated in their home city.
 • Treasures of the Underworld: You receive 500 silver coins.
 • Helmet of Invisibility: Your troops are invisible for the first 10 % of their journey.
 • Plague: Reduces the base production of resources in an enemy city by 50% for 3 hours.

[font="calisto
mt"]Farming Village Sytem

Besieging Farm villages
The amount of Farming villages a player can own is dependent on the troop requirements in each village. At the start of the game you are allowed to have two Farming villages. All farming villages that display a red flag are not owned by you. To conquer a farming village, the units defending the village must be defeated. To do this, simply click on on the Farming village and send enough troops to defeat the defenders.

Expanding Farming Villages
Farming Villages can be expanded. An expanded farming village can transport larger resource loads.

Resource loads
If a farming village is under the players control, it will generate resource loads that can be sent to the player's city. It is possible to demand resource loads before they are finished, and upon completion they will be transferred. Resource loads can accumulate to a small degree, so casual players will not loose as many resources if they do not log in for a day or two.

Plundering Resources
Resources can also be plundered without the consent of the farming village. However this feature will decrease the farming village's mood. If the mood sinks too low, the farmers can even revolt and kill all stationed troops in your village, which will also cause a temporary reduction of the resource loads.

screen5.png

Demand Troops
You can also demand troops from your farming villages. A level 3 Barracks is a requirement for this action. However be careful, this action causes the farming village's mood to decrease.

Attack Planner
The attack planner is a new tool you receive when you activate the "Captain" premium feature. Players can create multiple attack plans and share them with their friends and alliance. The feature aids you in coordinating large attacks against your targets.

screen6.png

An attack plan can have multiple cities as its target. The distance between all the player's cities and the target is calculated and displayed. All cities may be used to attack a selected Target. The arrival time and number of units are controlled by the player.

New Administrator overview
The new City view provides you with a complete display of all events that are happening in your city. Troops, Building levels, Resources, and research points information are all available in one simple glance.

Increase the Phoenician traders arrival time
Through the use of gold you can now summon the Phoenician trader immediately. This will work similar to the accelerate building premium feature.

Academy research time reduction
Through the use of gold you can now half the research time in the academy. This will work similar to the accelerate building premium feature.

Unit view seperation
The troops are now displayed in two differnt overviews: Recruitment and Troop overview.

"Drag&Drop"-City organizer
Whoever activates the administrator can "drag and drop" cities into their preferred city group

God Powers extension
Divine powers such as "happiness" can now be extended for a short amount of time with gold. The extension has diminishing returns and can only be done a limited amount of times.

[font="calisto
mt"]Settings

Window management
The player can control how many windows can be displayed simultaneously. If you set the maximal window number to "1", the currently open window will close automatically when you open a new window(similar to the old version).

Local data storage
To load the game faster, some of the game data will be stored on your hard-drive. If you would like to deactivate this feature or delete the local cache, you can do this from the Settings menu now.

Building in the city overview
2.0 enables the player to queue building orders from the city overview. If you click on the small hammer next to the building, the level will be upgraded. This function can be disabled in the Settings menu. The building-queue under the city overview can also be disable there.

In the new 2.0 version, all buildings can also be upgraded in the city overview. To Increase a building level simply click on the hammer symbol. The building cue is also displayed beneath the City overview, giving the player more information about the current building levels.

New Barrack building requirements
The building requirements for the Barracks have changed in the 2.0 version. The old requirements were: Senate(level 4) and Farm (level 4). The new requirements will be: Silvermine (level 1), Senate(level 2), Farm(level 3) and Timber camp(level 4)
