I did not make this tut, I'm just posting it here because it may be the best tut out there explaining the major elements when making a signature/tag.
iirc, it has been posted before but I can't find it so I decided to post it again so everyone can read it.

great tut, despite how long it is. if i could choose two layer modes to add to gimp from ps it would be linear dodge and i think it's called color dodge (the two that make really good lighting effects or just nice effects).

Zenron is a god sig maker on the tribal wars forum, very good I'd actually suggest looking at some of the tuts on the tw forum.
