Proposal
I feel it would be fun if there were mini games that you could play with your alliance, or perhaps even against other alliances. This would work either as an internal alliance competition, where leader boards are shown, or as a constant worldwide event. I like this idea as there are lots of times we sit idle waiting, which pushes people away from the game.
Mini games could include Light ship battles, where you control a light ship to fight another, swordsmen duels etc and maybe a tower defence style thing with archers shooting down harpies and so on.
If it was internal to alliance, it could just be for fun, if it was world wide, people could even bet resources and maybe the world winner every week would earn some troops or some sort of reward. Perhaps there could be a section of it where players can spend gold, like in events, however this shouldn't be across all mini games as pay to win would ruin it

This would be fun and would make more people play the game.
Balance/Abuse Prevention
Perhaps players would blackmail others into losing mini games if it was world wide, however players should consider this before playing.
