Top 12 Alliances

Lol you guys take this game too seriously. I joined up with some friends from Omega who were here a few months ago. Since then, we've had a ton of fun(most fun I've ever had in grepo in 4 years of it) and are still going up in the rankings. Our forum is simple and gets the job done. We don't have all these problems with other alliances because we don't get involved with world diplomacy. If we want to attack somebody, we do it.

The real fun in this game is fighting. Winning worlds isn't that great. I've done it 3 times(going on 4), and it gets less fun every time. Fighting and having fun with friends is the way to go.

I am in The Smoke for those of you who care lol, and you guys need to start having fun with your alliances

I find the world configuration to be influencing alliance style and tactics and team organizing principles which is very interesting to me.

Perhaps it is the world speed (3), which seems to encourage certain types of tactics to emerge leading to more individual driven fighting, and alliances which are working groups more than organized teams. A few observations:

1) seem to have more individual fights, with some support from the team either ad hoc or after the fact.
2) people seem to be willing to throw men into attacks and defenses more carelessly versus slower worlds (my first world was a speed one world).

For example, with a slow world I saw much more of the winning teams using organized ops with more care and precision, but perhaps they had to. Farming was more critical to gain resource advantages needed, as were good use of spells. It took so long to rebuild nukes and favor, that you didn't want any of it thrown away. Also, you needed to organize the team to not lose cities or battles as they really mattered.

For example, CS attacks would be very likely to face active defense unless you were very close, so colonizing or penetrating an island was very critical. Good players could almost always dodge and time a snipe, whether offensive or defensive. So you had to plan your run to assume either both 2k of defenders within 10 sec of the cs or a back attack. If you cleared the city ahead of time you knew it was unlikely to rebuild, so that worked for inactive players, but good players could defend a city many times with all the warning time. Accordingly, timing had to be precise and we used double cs attacks to foil the snipes.

Speed three seems to me to allow much more easy wins by studying a players down times and by using surprise or brute force, as you can win by catching even an excellent tactical player when the defender is not online from decently far away. Likewise team help is less likely to arrive in time, so the forum posts about incoming cs or attacks are less organized or precise that I have seen. Do others also observe this about the teams?

Overall though I have seen the teams that I expected to rise to the top pretty much get there. More merges will happen, but really it is up to each player and team to shape this worlds end. DA certainly seems to encourage diversity, good play and fun that I see.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to play on a world speed 1 and be forced to have to work with a team for a week to take a single city. Although I can understand how at times it's needed and will be needed but for the most part who doesn't wanna run and gun down a few cities a day solo. I personally wish the game was twice as fast as it currently is.

Speaking of players throwing men into attacks... Greg has got the shakes waiting for you to come out of VM for the twentieth time. He's got like 1000 attacks he needs to launch.

I've played a few speed 1's and a few speed 3's. Speed 3's are way more fun because you can attack and rebuild within a few days. Much for fighting which is much more fun

Speed 1 is the social side of Grepolis, speed 3 is for the hyper player.

Can't talk, need to attack something!

....One point I'd like to make though, is that because DA has so many different alliances on its spread-out borders, the likelihood of you having met a fair cross-section of the alliance based is unlikely. One thing is for sure - attacking and taking cities from less-able members is welcomed.

Why?

Because then thgese less-able members will learn something (improve skills, ask for tips to improve, or fade-out, their close neighbors will too (either they help or dont), and both you and DA will improve in the long-run....

Well they do seem to be learning. Unescorted transports seem mostly to be a thing of the past (ahh well it was fun while it lasted). You can commend felix for his play though. Tripping every da city we might possibly try to cs was quite a good move and has so far provided an abundance of amusement. One thing though is I'm never sure if you guys are annoyed or indifferent. I keep having conversations with DA members and they invariably end up with me feeling as if neither participant managed to steer the conversation where they wanted it to go... Or even knew where they wanted to steer it in the first place, even if I initiate it by the end I forget what I was supposed to get out of it. I get confused too easy... :/

As for speed 1 and 2, tried it once, way too much preparation and hence stress. With speed 3 you get to try out new tactics if you did that on speed 1 and it failed itd put you back weeks. I would personally love a faster world, although Id rather the time of conquest remained the same otherwise stress levels and caffeine consumption would dramatically rise again.

Hey we have fun! I think. Im pretty definitely probably sure we're making our alliance fun enough. Also I thought the smoke was mostly dead? Perhaps I was wrong...

The smoke you were probably thinking of is dead yes. Those players are in Last Slightly Heroes now. Urog stayed in the smoke and invited us. We are from Omega. We're hear just to fight and have fun.

We've been whipping on the heroes the past few months. Very fun world

So I guess the new motto for HF is "If you can't beat your enemy, report him!" This coming from the people who told me to "EAD" and "do it hard".

There's nothing wrong with reporting players. Everyone has to follow the rules, and if one is winning by cheating you have the right to report him. It doesn't matter that they are enemies. The rules are there to ensure fair gameplay, and it's up to you to follow them or not play at all.

It's not about "fair". I believe everyone on this server has played "fair". It's hypocritical behavior where an alliance that supposedly has no one under 18 in it, though they all act like 10 year olds (see HF city names for examples), that cusses out other people and then turns around and reports someone for cussing because they know they can't beat them fair and square on an even playing field. It has nothing to do with "fair" and everything to do with cowardice.

#1. Who said HF doesn't have anyone under 18 in it?
#2. If any members of HF have been cussing towards other players, please report them. That's unacceptable.
#3. You seem like you're just in a whiny mood...

1.) Greg, Mark, Rick, along with several alliance leaders in the world.
2.)We do, repeatedly, nothing ever happens...EVER, pretty much the same thing with PE, every single time, and oh look they're all together how. Now they can not be banned as a unit. Reported the mod for not doing anything too. Wanna know what happened to that, even with evidence...nothing.
3.) I'm always in a whiny mood. Grep does that to me.

1. How do you know how old they are?
2. Nothing happens when we report Bot Zone Crusade either.
3. Grep should be fun man. The moment it turns into a job is the moment you should quit...
