I was attacked and my Birs killed ALL the attackers LS. Still he was able to take booty and start a revolt. Why did his units not drown? Is this different in a revolt world?

Him not losing all his biremes could have happened due to one or multiple of these:
  1. If you had a low number of biremes left, they wouldn't have enough power to kill all the transports if he sent a good number of them.
  2. If he had breakthrough researched, it would have doubled the chance of him reaching the shores of your city.
  3. He sent in mythical units that fly to start the revolt

Thanks a lot for the answer!
ad1 - yes he had lots of transport ships and I had only 4 biremes left - still, why didn't those 4 biremes fight until the end?
ad2 - ...so he should have fought my remaining biremes with the help of breakthrough
ad3 - no, he did not
thanks

Those biremes killed all they could, but didn't die as transports don't fight in battles.
The Breakthrough research helps more transports reach the shores, but reduces the power of the attacking ships.

I don't know what units were in that attack, but those biremes didn't die because there weren't any fighting ships left to destroy them.

Another way to think of why your remaining biremes didn't kill the transport ships is to imagine that whilst the biremes were killing other transport ships .. the ones which stayed alive got to the shore before the biremes could kill them (since they were killing the other transport ships) and thus the land units (from the ships that escaped the wrath of the biremes) hit the shore and landed

One thing for sure, the attack was not breakthrough, because you can only cost of the three : regular, revolt, or breakthrough.

Furthermore, analyze the same scenario in your battle simulator, you should be able to replicate and determine if this result is probable.

I've seen a single bir destroy CS and Slinger nukes because of rookie mistakes like attacking without fighting ship escorts.
