I want to think this is a good idea and not be cynical about it but the past few years have only enhanced and supported how this has gone from a good game to something that is not as good as it was.
These "fixes" and developments are mere window dressing. Unless the roots of the problems are changed players will be driven away sadly.
First, the changes to the battle system made in 2015 are beyond obtuse and border on ridiculous. There is no way, ever, that troops should land, especially cats, in a city with a stacked harbour if it's an escorted off island attack with no fliers. No way. It would not happen in the real world and should not happen in a game about battles. It's like breakthrough has been built into the system.
Second, gold use is becoming rather obscene. While I understand Grep/Inno are in this for the money and that everything is profit driven, if any of these awards/rewards are benefited by gold use then they are tainted. This game is becoming tainted with instant build, myths as rewards in events, the number of events, no morale ... all driven by gold.
Finally, the end game needs to be improved. When I got my first crown it was because of a battle royal like it should be. This swapping in and out, dropping a level of the wonders so your "buddies" can get crowns too is absolutely absurd and taints this fine game.
If Grep can guarantee that gold is not involved in these awards, that I can carry them over to other worlds and different servers then they may have some value. As was stated above, it would be great to see them so you know who you can bring into your alliance, then they are beneficial. But if you can't, then they are pretty useless. And if gold benefits the obtaining of these awards, then they have less meaning as well.
