Got my wall built up nice and high with lots of fire ships in the harbor, don't think anyone is landing a CS in my city. Walls are good to build in conquest right?

The only perfect defense in Conquest is an active alliance with good timing…. Walls are just a deterrent to random attacks for BP. That is the only purpose they serve. A determined attacker sees a wall and says let’s get in and stack it! Only other use for a wall in Conquest is a stacked BP trap just to farm enemy attacks for BP.
Edit: or a wall can be used just to make your city difficult for takers like when I left 27 cities on 139 ghosted with high walls and towers…

Maybe I'll swap out the fireships for just a bunch of slingers that'll be a bit more effective.
