Countdown on favors

On my favor page their is a countdown clock, it started at 500 hrs, what happens when it zeros or how do I stop it reaching zero. I am on 400 favor and don't know whether to use them or save them or whether I will lose them. I have asked in my alliance forum and nobody seems to know

I think the 'countdown' is actually indicating when your favor will be at full capacity (500)--so, it is not going to disappear; rather, it is notifying you when it will be complete.
