Demand units didn't work

Howdy, I recently demanded units - four slingers per farming village - but I didn't get any units. Why is this? I have 299 free population. The population did go down as I demanded units, but no units appeared in my units bar.

I have seven farming villages and recruited four slingers from each, but to no avail.

Try refreshing (F5), I often have returning troops failing to show in the city and this normally puts it right
