will i lose the unused research points from demolition academy ?

cause i am getting error says

the cannot demolish while point from the current level are in use . you have to discared exting tec first

At each Academy level, you will have a total amount of research points available to you. Each time you upgrade to a new academy level, that total increases, and each time you demolish a level, that total decreases. You cannot go into negative research points (unless your academy is hit with stone hail catapults, I think). So, if you want to demolish an academy level, you have to make sure that you have the required amount of unused research points.
