[Discussion] - Why didn't the CS die?

I think this is a bug. Fireships should not be able to be sent as an attacking escort. Since they don't take part in the attack, they cannot be defeated. This in turn makes the colony ship invincible.

I would like to remind everyone that exploiting bugs can result in a ban.

Wait! I thought you can't attack with fire ships!

Edit:
Oh sorry you posted first :p

I agree, show off ;) agreed nice wall, you've defended to much! lolz anyways I guess there is a bug in the game! Who knew? Oh and pricilla from what I remember, ships don't count as troops so you actually have to have 1 land unit there. There for it's not invincible, but it is unfair!

Sending conquest attacks like those posted in the screenshots in this thread will not fall into the category of exploiting bugs. It's a legitimate way of trying to conquer a city with the least possible risk, and if successful, providing a base defense for the town being conquered. If it were not meant to be this way, the game designers would not have implemented it.

This doesn't change my opinion though that this gamerule is quite unrealistic. Colony ships, fireships and transport ships should sink once they encounter a strong naval resistance, no matter in what constellation they are sent.

Maybe the mods need a small lesson in game-rules - except for me of course :p

P.S.
Can't wait to get my smack on the head for this once I turn my mod-skype back on - this should be fun ;-)

Can I join the mod skype pretty puleezzzz?

As for the bug/error in game design, I think fireships should not escort CSs... after all, they are burning ships which you can't sail for 3 days to get to your Conquer target.

This has been going on for a while, I did not know it was a bug per se, but I knew it wasn't right. I always send one FS in with my CS, so that if the naval attack fails, I keep my CS as it gets to the shore and returns unharmed, ofcourse the rest of the LS/BI get destroyed by the naval defence. It seems like common practise nowadays, I'm sure it will be 'fixed' soon.

I've got another question now regarding fire ships...

Say you've got two cities, city A and city B.
city A has 50fireships, you support city B with them.
city A then gets attacked and a CS is landed... but before the CS lands you withdraw your fireships from city B
The fireships arrive home after the CS is in your village. Now's the confusing bit... They obviously attack as its a hostile village owner currently there... But nobody loses troops as Fireships don't attack??? So where do they go? As support for the enemy? Just dissapear until the siege is possibly broken? :heh:
just curious :)

I like that question. I'll answer it in around 34 hours.

When the fireships return, they will act as support for the besieger. At the time of conquest, They are still in the city, so do not disappear like troops outside will. Since they belong to the city, the new owner gets control of them. This is probably another bug, but since few people use fire ships, not commonly encountered.

Here's a screenshot to verify what Priscilla said:
The Fireships "attacked" the colony squad when returning back home, but they didn't kill anything and from then on they support the occupier.

I don't understand concept of defensive vs offensive ships/units. A ship is a ship whether defensive or offensive and should act on it's basic function.

that because he has big forces than you and he is used Hera in the attack

Fire Ships/ CS ???

I'm not sure if this was supposed to happen or not but it surprised me:
frenzyholden.png

In the first attack the CS wave fails to break through my land troops and so fails.
In the second attack the CS wave breaks through the remaining defensive troops yet he doesn't wipe out all my fireships, though the city still goes under siege and the fireships turn to defend him. (as proven by the screenshot of me immediatly clearing the troops from the city to save my village). i thought as he didnt wipe my defences (navy wise anyways) he wouldn't of been able to conquer the village... or am i mistaken and do fireships not count?

Fireships are a special species, I merged these 2 threads because they fit nicely together.

I'm still not sure whether this last one is a bug or whether Fire Ships are useless at defending against CS waves?

It's not really a bug, more a gamedesign flaw, but an intended one. Not everyone agrees with the FS battle behaviour (including yours truely), but we have to live with it like that ;-)
