this is a game of war.. I want to create widows and orphans............. not spend time making a ROYAL Family
when running a 100+ cities how will this make the game, better having 1 city stronger than the others?

This is the advantage of what extra things you get without paying X $. Stronger is a city, but each one is stronger. You can use multiple types of tactics.

I chuckled reading this... could be a genius idea if it wasn't just a story.
The problem is it is hard to find connection between your proposal and the game.

It could be this simple:

Summary:
player profile improvements

Description:
assign characters to accounts

- at the beginning of every world you could pick a character and this character would evolve depending on how long time you spent on the world, whenever you reached a milestone you could get a bonus / buff and your family too (similar to forum ranks: Peltast - Prodromoi - Hipparchus - Hoplite - Chiliarch...)
- these characters could connect and the relation between players would be visible on their profile - many players like to post who their friends are
it could generate funny forum profile texts combined with IGNs (similar to The Oracle of Zancle intel site's Tavern Rumors)
- negative effects when someone left the family, left the world... choose your friends wisely

Reason:
encourage players to interact and befriend with others - 'create family' for bonuses, stay long term in the game

Visual Aids:
different profile themes depending on the chosen character / current role in the Grepo family
