nothing beats a good ol' manti nuke :) if i had a £ for every seige i have broke with them.. (ill have £2 :p)

so, to answer your request, here we go.
1. For speed:
I mentioned i computed with fast transport ships because they are, well, fast, and the loss in transport to normal transport ship is little if you're using bunks.
So, the medusas in the ships with medusas will travel at speed 15. With cartography you can get 10% faster, so 16.5.
The manticore travel at 22. So 33% faster. A good gain of speed and the unit flies over the naval blocade going straight to the troops.
medusa: 15 (16.5 with cartography)
manticore: 22
The flying gain comes at a cost. It's quite easy to spot a manticore nuke as it travels faster than other attacks. And the attacked target can dodge as it doesn't risks loosing the wall. Indeed less time to act (6 hours instead of 8 for examlpe), but easier to spot. If you mix the manticores with any other naval unit, then the speed is slower, so you gain only from pure manticore nukes.
Unfortunately going over the naval blocade means you still have to deal with the ships if you want to take over the town as you would do with non-flying units.
So, you gain speed at the cost of the target knowing what you sent without an owl spell.

Yeah, but the problem with that is that Manticore nukes are almost never used for normal clearing/raiding attacks but for breaking sieges... A situation where the player holding the seige cannont dodge.

Also... You haven't thought about the possibility of a Mudusa getting sunk to the bottom of the ocean because of not enough naval forces and not doing anything at all.

i understand that fast transports move at 15, but does this mean you send your medusa nukes with no LS escort? :S

this assumes that the player is online when the attack is sent to see the exact travel time of the attack, which is not always the case...
also, as aicy mentioned, mantis are at their best breaking seiges - a case in which they cannot be dodged :cool:

MEGA-LATE EDIT: you can always send a LS with your manti nuke too if you want to disguise the speed ;)

Why not have both a Manticore Nuke and a Medusa Nuke. I currently have a Harpy nuke and a Manticore Nuke. The nice thing about having these two nukes is the limiting factor is favor but they are from two different gods.

The Medusa Nuke is the ultimate CS nuke. Medusa have the most attack and defence by pop in the game. 88 Medusa with a CS will kick butt when it lands and keep crap out once it is there.

correct, but that harpy nuke will perish if the defender has a heavy archer, say 300?
huh? harpies annihilate archers :D you must be talking about manticores i think...

archers are the best defenders vs manticores, but a nuke 55 mantis has 2475 population, so it'll take a few more than 300 archers to stop that!

I voted every one, because you never know in what kind of a situation you are going to find your self in, some are better for one thing, and some are for others, they are all usefull for their use
