We're not really discussing a bug, but a design flaw. I don't think the bug section would be appropriate.

A design flaw by its very nature is a bug. Therefore the Bugs section would have been more appropriate. I chose not to move this thread as it started as a discussion about the event itself and player's thoughts on it.

...no more people losing all their units and having them back 2 hours later, no more casting 5 seastorms on the same attack.

Players have been able to rebuild armies in no time since the introduction of the troop building reduction feature a number of worlds ago. This is not something new which has been introduced. And besides...being able to gain 5000x of a resource every 4 hours does not meant that this is no longer possible.

As for the casting of Sea Storm spells on the same attack multiple times, this is not possible as only one spell can be cast on an attack at a time.

sea storms and zues rages can be cast multiple times as they dont buff the spell, aslong as theres not a permanent buff or anti buff active

Not necessarily true about the rebuilding of armies. In newer worlds it is particularly hard to allocate your resources to towns that need rebuilding as you have less cities and more building to i.e. you're doing troops, cities and research. The fact is that Olympic games provided as many resources whenever you wanted, definitely a new addition :). The 5000 of each every four hours will for sure slow it down a tad :).

You can cast multiple spells on an attack though, not sure if it is only defenders and it can only be different spells however. I've seen multiple times a defender cleanse an incoming attack of the attackers heroic power or what have you and then cast Zeus's rage, sea storm and desire. So that is definitely possible :)

DeadlyTruth is full of DeadlyCuddles....you can't cast more Zeus Rage AND Sea Storm on the same attack.

yes you can aslong as they have no fav wind, heroic power, helmet of invisibility or desire...think i remembered them all lol

Still, multiple spells only work in certain combinations.

There is now a cooldown period for spending laurels at the grepolympics store:

4 hours for buying 5,000 resources
8 hours for buying 150 favor
12 hours to cast Happiness

Not sure about the others yet as I haven't purchased them recently. GhylTarvoke, you got your wish. Now it's fair.

I suppose that's as close as we'll get to an admission that the Grepolympics caused a significant unbalancing in the game.

Too little and too late for me as the damage has already been done.

We spanked you, Transient, but don't give Grepolympics the credit. We had it all planned out before I even knew Grepolympics existed.

players feedback? there were multipel types of feedback from palyers, and they took the whiners feedback... gz.

What about those who spent 30.000 gold for example in 4 days and now cant usel aurels cos of cooldowns? how do you think thats fair :)

I'll admit that you are correct about the rebuilding of troops. Assuming you have tons of cities with lots of resources and loads of trade capacity, or alot of allies helping you with resources. In newer worlds (where I play) it's not that evident to rebuild say 250 horses, transports and 40 ls in hours. that would require huge alliance cooperation and you could do that maybe once.
With the 5k instant resources you could do this easily.
for example I've seen a guy on 3 cities, launch a nuke like that (with cs) + a 550 slinger nuke + a smaller horsemen nuke. he lost everything, relaunched the same nukes (but slightly bigger this time) within hours, lost everything again, he went in for a third half a day later and captured the city.
this surely has been stopped by the instant resource spell cooldown, because we weren't talking about 5k each res every few hours (I think it's 8 hours btw), but about 100k+ resources whenever you want.

About the multiple sea storms, this was possible. My guess is that it always was, but it was never a problem because the spell costs 350 favor and you can only have 500. Maybe in a rare circumstance where you get attacked around midnight, have 500 favor and a 180 bonus available, with enough income to get the remaining 20 in time you could do it, but this is very rare ofc.

with grepolympics you could just cast seastorm, buy favor and cast again. One of my alliance mates partially quit because of this, I think he even put in a ticket and got a reply that it was just part of the olympics. funny thing is that I'm in the alliance of the guy who casted multiple seastorms in another world and he did the same thing there.

The games last a month, i'm sure they'll find a way to spend all the laurels.

The whiners are the players who don't have the opportunity to buy 30,000 gold and blow it on the Olympics. The whiners are the ones who were negatively impacted by this Grepolympics because it took balance completely out of the game.

Not quite true if you play in a hero world with Artemis as a god. Just throw in a purification and you're good to go again. And with no cooldown you could go again and again and again and.....

With that said I'm satisfied with the change made. Now we have a more balanced game again. Thank you!

Sea Storm costs 250 favor so you can cast up to 2 of them without grepolympia shop.... (up to 4 if you get 500 favor reward that day )

See crybaby what if someone spent 30.000 gold on competitions and is leaving for seaside in say 3-4 days? and he wont be back for 3 -4 weeks... Its a made up scenario but wouldnt he be actually cheated by innogames? Shouldnt we all get offered to buy back gold with laurels cos of this ty change? Some spent so much gold cos of this and now we are taken our money away and not gaining what it says in wiki grepolis.

balance? dude you wont even be playing much longer. if you cant spend a lousy benjamin on gold, over time you cannot keep up. you cannot make forces or build cities fast enough. player A, who spends some currency builds cities and troops multiple times faster than the jobless or makework player can. morale is socialist enough to keep you in the game for a while, but in the end you will be a long forgotten less than a footnote. this game was BUILT for people to spend currency, that they shafted those that have is just stupid business practice.

Fair isn't propping up the losers of the world, that is charity. Fair is giving everyone equal access as the internet does. If you can sign in, that is the access. What you do from there is based on your real world talents and ability. I have the ability to spend, probably more in a week than many could in a year. and, doing it from tip money. Fair is me being able to play the game based on all my abilities as I have earned them. A hand up is one thing, that is decent and fair. A hand out is charity. obviously those that are the charity based cannot tell the difference. socialism vs open market. to those according to their ability, instead of to those according to their need taken from those who have the ability. OBAMANATION AGAIN!!
