I think there is ample opportunity to add a new god to the game, everything else in the game has had some boost thanks to old and new gods population culture point acquisition and ship travel times from Aphrodite and better fighting power from ares. Aside from Christophulous building time has been remarkably static, and building cost has no reduction other than Architecture. Thematically Hephaestus as the god of the forge would be the god that would be best fitting to promote building time
Spells:
#1 His first spell would do just that. It would be an active spell that when cast would allow for buildings in the city to be built 100% quicker over 3 hours the same bonus as Population Growth (Hera) and Call of the Ocean (Poseidon) With the option to have an event power that would grant cost reduction (in the same vein as chain lightning and Nerids) which would drop costs by 30%.
#2 There is a great opportunity to introduce a passive defensive spell, while there are many offensive spells in the game from almost every god there are no defensive spells. Hephaestus' passive defensive spell would improve the cities militia, improving their defensive power up to 500% based on farm level and city guard (10% boost per farm level, and a 50% boost if city guard is researched listed) by enhancing their weapons in Hephaestus' forge this would combat the dramatic effectiveness of the City Protection/ Narcissism combo, though by limiting it to the militia it doesn't break the game in the other direction and by being passive would not be dispelled by a purification. Militia defensive stats would be 3,000 blunt defense, 8,000 Sharp defense, 2,000 range defense at max level. while this is a lot it would almost entirely mitigate the detrimental effects of the City protection/Narc combo allowing for a fair fight.
#3 an active spell that would increase the amount of coins of war/wisdom from the active quests on the island. This would have a one use limit the same way that charitable festival limits one use for victory processions. It would work either in the same way as charitable festival or wold flat double the amount of coins that a player would receive from the quest. Since currently there is no way to increase the amounts of coins a player gets other than increasing point size but that only goes up to 16. this would allow players to better invest in their heroes.
#4 an active spell that gives horsemen. The original 6 gods gave all other basic non myth land units except for horsemen, what better time than the present to fill that hole.
Myth units:
Land: Nemean Lion, lots of Defense (1000 each) fitting with is myth that its hide was impervious to attack, it is built for protecting cities from invaders. fitting with Hephaestus's defensive theme thus far.
Air: Sphinx another air unit but this one geared towards land unit speed, 5% boost for each sphinx (sirens but land) and 500 loot carry. Theory being that since the sphinx could talk and fly it could give aerial reconnaissance thus improving land speed. This would help incentivize land unit attacks on the same island.
