I doubt. It will probably either


1) Replace a Research that is not used/bad in the eyes of Grepo Staff
2) Downgrade the cost of a few researches
3) Give the use of a Library more meaning


That is, if this is implemented.

Maybe these two ships are not really useful (which I agree with) but the idea of new ships sounds cool. In the trireme changes page, they were talking about something like a scout ship that can harbor check an opposing city or a ghost ship that is defensive but doesn't show up on spy reports.

I like the idea, it would be great to get more specified sea units, like how there's archers and swords specialised for land defense and the slinger and horsemen for land offense. Currently we only have 2 proper specialised sea units which are Biremes and LS. This would give players more choice

I think this is not a bad idea, at all. It will certainly provide more option and strategy for players, which is a very nice thing! Honestly the unit and building system in grepolis has been becoming less and less strategic, they should make it more diverse too!

Good idea overall, but I think the quinquiremes could use a boost in defense and the other idea needs more speed as well as maybe a special ability like reconnaissance. Maybe they can detect the presence of lighthouse/tower etc and send a message back to the city of origin.

The game desperately needs new ships. I vote for this idea to go ahead.

I would say no at it stands.

If you are going to bring in a fast attacking ship (faster than LS), factor in bonus such as cartography, lighthouse, and then possible troop movement bonus's you are looking at super quick.

You would need to propose, either a defensive ship with similar speed, or adjustments made to biremmes to allow support to reach cities in time.

anything offensively, has to be balanced defensively

But it is already balanced by the fact that defenders can stack their defense, one of the main points of this unit if implemented is it would make grepolis much more mobile game, Instead of hunkering down when my enemies attack I can use this speedy ship to counter, This unit would make attack a much more viable method of defense

on the note of the turtle boats you would have to do some major balancing like 24hours+ to make and 20,000 each resource

I think this is a great idea, we need more variety for our ships instead of just nuking with LS and stacking Biremes.
Two thumbs up for me.

I'd love to see something new in naval battles. New ships or some sort of tactics that can be used like was mentioned in a different post. Ramming bireme walls with LS does get old after awhile. It's the same thing every time. I do like the idea of quicker ships that lack some power.

how about different types of ships for cities with certain gods , with possedion there is a ship hydra , why not make ships for all the different gods ? i understand the reason behind possedion having a ship due to him being a god of the seas but extra ships does make some sense.

the like for like fire ships only destroys one ship and not many players use this simply because it sits there and takes a long time to send to support cities . Maybe have it as a research where it can potentially blow up a lot more ships ?

or ships with catapults to destroy buildings from the seas as a lot of people send lightship nukes and players hide there ships , maybe with something that could damage the city they would be more willing to stand there ground and have support remain in there cities giving bp all round in form of offence and defence ?

Since I stopped playing Grepolis a few years ago, there seems to have been many positive changes to the game. I have noticed many new units, gameplay features, and updates that have seemed to add some necessary diversity to the game. I want to thank anyone who has commented over the years for their wise input and any other community developers/moderators that have pushed this idea forward. While it does not appear that this idea gained enough steam to become directly part of the gameplay, it certainly started a much needed discussion of improvements to the Grepolis units. My hope is that the community continues to support each other and discuss new ideas that can further develop the game that many of this community enjoy so greatly. I also hope the developers respond to the community with open ears and continue to develop improvements that benefit the community as a whole.

Thank you all for helping to further support the discussion. May there be many great ideas to come.
