If you have troops supporting another town when you lose city?

If you sent 200 troops from city #1 to another city "Lets call it city #2"
And city #1 gets conquered. What happens to the troops in city #2 that were originally sent from city #1, which is no longer yours?

Well, technically, troops from city #1 that are stationed in city #2 will no longer be stationed there.

Once a city that has troops in your city get conquered, those troops are no longer visible, and thus they are not there any more.

I would love an idea where a portion of those troops could "become your own" if the previous owners city gets conquered. However, this should be in the idea thread.

But yes, troops from city#1 no longer remain in city#2.

They just disappear. Nothing more complex, simple removal from existence.
