Lambda: Strategical Analysis

Just for a bit of diversion, I would like the opinion of 'old school' players and newer initiates in Grep to give their take on Lambda.

A few of the criteria:

1) This is a long term approach, nothing in the next week, nothing about who you are attacking right now. Rather, concentrate on what will take place in the next month or two or three or four. Use experience from other worlds (but keep it Lambda specific), or just take a noob look at what you see.

2) You can discuss specific oceans or how they may pertain to other oceans.
Remember to place it into an entire world view. Remember to specify what ocean or area you are going to address and how it may effect the world.

3) Big wars in the future. Give us your thoughts on what major conflicts seem to be eventual.

4) Is Lambda dull? Boring? Or gearing up to be a bloody, messy, sweat-inducing battlefield.

5) For old school peeps, how is it different than what you have played before? For new players, is it fulfilling expectations?

Basically, have fun.
Give thoughts in humor and nothing nasty. Be kind. Be smart. Add to the joy of playing a great game.
Make fun of MRAs, knowing full well they are going to fight, and often fight hard. Make fun of big alliances, knowing they may disband fast if their leaders fail.
If you wish, make people nervous about their present NAPs, use this as an opportunity for a bit of personal propoganda.

Basically... be imaginative, thoughtful and have fun. :D

I'll try my best. For this may be difficult!

What am I? I'm a noob!

The center of the world is filled with the major alliances. For the next month or so, they will try to control their oceans. Many smaller wars will continue for control of these oceans.
Just outside the center are many quickly growing alliances with less threat and larger areas to quickly expand.
These two groups of alliances, 'center' and 'just outside of center' will attempt to make NAPs with each other as they take on the multitude of smaller alliances within their reach. This will continue for four months.

Eventually, this will make the 'center' difficult to expand. Surrounded by 'just out of center' alliances, there simply will be too few cities of decent size to take.
This will result in huge wars for control of all the center oceans. Many NAPs will fall apart, shaken by the pressure. Shifting NAPs will be seen, and Lambda will become extremely active, both on the maps, in-game, and in the forums.
Blood will cover everyone's keyboards. Parents around the world will complain and then take up the battle in their families name.

Everyone will fall to drinking in a small club in Argentina. The Social Club, with great bartenders and leadership, will hold a massive party on the beach, peace and understanding will be found, and the world will have culture points to send a ship to Venus.
'Civilization' will ensue, and everyone playing Lambda will win the game.

OK, I don't play in Lambda any more, but I do still peep into the world forums and on the world for a look from time to time. So my opinion won't be the best, but lets see.

Well, judging from the current leaderboards, I think its safe to say that Marines (What happened to 'The'?) will clearly be around for a VERY long time, probably forever. They are first place in points by almost double second place, 1st place in BP, highest average, have the top players in BP and the top players in points. They already 'own' oceans 55 and 54.

Well, the other two core oceans are 'owned' by Narwhals (45) and SGC (44). Both alliances are strong, and unless they do what Semper Fi. did and go to Marines, they will be around for a while. However, the question is, will Marines try and expand even further, attempting to take these two out?

Now the rim is filled with quite a few MRA's. Many of them have grown quite a lot, for example The Great Empire and REAL MADRID ELITE. Once the core alliances are ready to take them on, they won't last long.

So, in my opinion, I see Marines ruling this world. I see them opening a second branch, a merger between SGC and Narwhals. I see them being the LEGION of Lambda. They won't be stopped unless a worthy alliance (The Mighty Boosh) is formed on the rim or outer core and with the help of others, bring them down. However, there will be many other wars, many other surprises, many twists and turns, in store for Lambda, which may change the outcome of the world, for some for the better, for others for the worse.

Lambda

C.1: NW - S.G.C will eventually war with RME 43 and most likely Mighty boosh as well.
SW- Seems to be unpopulated so it will come down to the narwhals dominating but once they have taken out O45 where will they go? who will they fight? S.G.C to the north or Marines to the east?
NE- O54 belongs to the marines, O53 is owned by silvica's army which to me is an unknown value yet, im not sure how good they can be and that will determine how they fare when it comes to them VS marines. if the marines take on to many alliances they may bite of more than they can chew, a multiple front, multiple war scenario is never a nice one.
SE- O55 will be owned by the marines. In O56 how ever we have Infectious State. Now by them selves they cant win but in a multiple front war scenario that may give them the upper hand, yet to see if they are good or not yet but only time will tell.

Conclusion. The core oceans will be owned by marines S.G.C and narwhals, the ring alliances will be owning their own oceans but will have to take on the core alliances at some point.

C.3: basically the biggest war the server will ever see will ultimatly come down to S.G.C and the marines. so far both alliances have stayed in their respective oceans but will this last? Why would that war be the biggest war in the server? well because those are the alliances who are consistant and stable. both alliances have technically been at war since day of of BP ending with other alliances and been taking the milestones and kicking but. both have great leadership and are both examples of Lambda's success stories as no other alliance's present today can match their acheivements. Basically i would say Marines = King of Lambda but S.G.C is their shadow, always there.

C.4: i find lambda quite fun, O44 is good as BL have some quality players who can put up a fight, 2nd best defenders against the 2nd best attackers. shows they know what they are doing and have some degree of organisation. BL are keeping me active making sure i have to ensure their eventual demise as they aint going nowhere by them selves.

C.5: Compared to my other worlds this one is under populated. very small so there fore i dont expect much from the ring alliances but it also means all alliances will be vying for a position in a core ocean eventually. makes it a very interesting place, initially i had no expectations so none have been fufilled but i would say its rather average. not as nooby as i expected.

I only got something to say about O55 because that's where I'm in and that is where my priority is.
At first I thought Semper Fidelis would dominate the ocean for a while and then eventually be in a war with the marines. Now being part of the Marines it's a whole other picture.
The top players from SF went to the marines so now a lot more not totally top players but definetly good players are left within other alliances like SWAT and Infectios State. I honestly don't think the War Mongers or any other alliance have a chance in o55.
I can now think of two possible scenario's. Either SWAT and IS will work together against the Marines. Or SWAT and IS will fight each other around the outer border of o55. I don't really have a clear picture of how the Marines will fullfill their role in this scenario. So bottom line I think ocean 55 definetly will be an interesting ocean in the future.
How this will all relate to the entire world we'll be mostly interessting to the Marines. If at one time we get in a war with any of the other core alliances being in war with an outer alliance will definetly not help.

As far as my expectations being a new player it's more or less along the lines of what i expected. Been playing travian for a long time so at first was really bummed there was no endgame in Grepolis. But with the world wonder things they kind of fixed that now.

BTW: +1 good topic.

I'd say the second scenario is far more likely.

Sok and Infectious State are War Mongers' closest allies. The second senario is far more likely.

So basically you both just rebranded the Great Empire. *kuch*Great way of shedding your image.*kuch*

Re: Infectious State

Infectious State have a few allies, we have our own agenda and right now we have other plans and have no plans in Fighting in ocean 55 for now.

I would like to point out the inconsistency of your statements quoted above, if I may be so bold. ;)

You ask the question of whether the blatantly obvious NAP between SGC and The Marines will last. Why ask the question when you already know the answer. Look at the map (http://en11.grepolismaps.org/01edabdb0122a4191dd12c9b47ddc6f3) and look at grepostats. On the map, you're practically french kissing each other, yet the stats show that no fighting/conquests occur between you. In fact, the stats show you're both eating up ghost towns and small alliances. You state that SGC is the shadow of The Marines. I'd say SGC is in bed with The Marines.

Please understand that none of this has anything to do with my respect for both SGC and The Marines very fine playing abilities and coordination. I've learned more from Marine attacks then I ever learned from the tutorials or this forum.

In my very noobious and humble opinion.

Metalcore is dead on with his predictions which is why i haven't given my opinion as I agree with his predictions.

What Metalcore meant with this is that both S.G.C and The Marines have been at war with other alliances since the end of BP and he is correct. No where did he write that we are at war with each other due to both alliances remaining inside their own oceans however will this continue in the future? Only time will tell...

while you guys fight each other, you will send all your unescorted transports full with troops to my towns in order to keep them safe, however you will accidently hit the attack button, gifting me 100's of thousands of DBP, enough BP to conquer all your cities, i will build CS upon CS and then grepolis will glitch, and all your remaining units will disappear and everyone but me will not have access to lambda for a week, when you come back i will have conquered many of your cities and will have started on many more, leaving me the RULER OF LAMBDA!!!

well this is what i predict for the near future anyway,

who likes my sig?

My Friends!

Since I began this thread, gotta take the opportunity to get it back on track.

Lambda's situation will certainly change.
And, as Lambda changes, this thread allows our 'Strategical Analysis' to change.
As stated in by such military luminaries as Von Clauswitz and Sun Tzu,
"No plan survives the first shock".

So don't worry about being 'wrong'.
There is NO general in human history that was always 'right'.

Napolean was once asked by a journalist if he prefered his generals to be experts at logistics, strategy or tactics.
He thought for a minute and answered:
"I prefer the lucky ones."

Have fun! Give your views, give long statements...
knowing full well you are probably wrong.
Just hope to be... lucky!

Hmm, me thinks we need another assesment of the world =)

S.G.C in now Rank 1 in points after a recent recruitment drive. Dealing heavy hits to Elite Hunters in the south and knocked RmE - 43 out of the top 12 with our recent conquests up north. Strong position in O44 and now branching out into the rim oceans and working on taking O45 through conquest, will be here for a long time at this rate. The Power of the west.

Marines still a dominate force in the east controlling the other two core oceans but still a hotly contested area. with Infectous state doing a but of damage and TTK still fighting back in the north leaves The Marines in a vunerable position if the other rim alliances were to join in the fight. Recent inactivity problems have lead to a alot of internal conquests recently but seem to be pass that phase now. Still the top power in the west and the world (according to BP stats) but their position is being truely contested for the first time.

Infectous State, the most powerful rim alliance sitting in O56 and now fighting for O55, good stats and proving to be a match for Marines thus far. Will be interesting to see if they have what i takes to take O55 by conquest. war has only started with Infectous state winning at 6-3 conquers but the war is only getting started.

The 9th Legion, a quite bunch and also another top quality rim alliance, seem to have a strong hold in O65, I myself havnt heard much about them so dont have much to say

Silvaticas Army, another quite bunch in the north, holding onto O53. Seem to be unchallanged up there. i once again know very little about them.

ANCIENTS, a organised group in O45 who recently lost one of their top players. Seem to be unfased by this loss and have a good grasp of O45 but yet its a trickly place to be now that they are at war with Elite hunters and have S.G.C coming down from O44 in force making a push for O45 dominance. Will be interesting to see what they do

Elite Hunters, another O45 alliance but one that is heading downhill. Has taken a hiding by S.G.C recently when we took out one of their strongest players in the north with little trouble at all and when their planned op on our southernmost player only managed to stir a revolt in 1/6 towns and didnt even have a chance at landing a CS. Dark days lie ahead for this alliance unless they can really pull their act together

Apollo 64, a solid bunch, was previously a branch of RmE but finaly broke off on their own, have been doing well and have been waging a war in O64 with the aim of dominatiing their ocean like S.G.C dose in O44. other than that been quite and i know little else about them

IMPERIUM, A very quite group, located in O46. Havnt seen a representitive on the forum, and seem to be doing well in O46. Know very little about them but look like one of those alliances you need t watch out for

Mighty Boosh -Revolved, a reformed Boosh after their previous leader left them. have been subjucated by S.G.C under friendly terms, With their top players joining S.G.C. will be a solid alliance on the rim with not much competition.

System worms, once again my knowledge is lacking, i dont even know where these guys are based but have heard from the Marines that they have been involved in the war for O55 so i would guess they are based there. DOnt know what to say about them TBH

The Three Kings, a small tight knit group in north O54, fighting against Marines, Took a bit of dmg b4 with 15 losses but JaG has started to fight back by taking a marine city himself. will be interesting to see how they fare against marines.

Hope you all enjoy my overview of the alliances of Lambda

We lost a top player that has been faithful from the start, so in no way will I have any harsh feelings towards him. However, I would like to start by saying we will not be pushed out of our ocean and will strive to keep it ours. Elite Hunters was a considered target that I was pushing for because of their dominance over our ocean, but now since they threw the first blow, I have no problems taking them out. Who knows, we may be full of surprises. ;)

all alliances have the same goal no offense but they all want one thing to become top in their ocean and the world their in but if a war does break between the marines and SGC does that mean that all alliances would have to take up arms for a major war
