Why not add Horse Archers to the game?

The Proposal:

New Land Unit: HORSE ARCHER

Weapon Type: Distance
Combat Strength: 30
Speed: 51 (next to no armor, these mounted archers move real fast)
Population Cost: 3
Barracks Level: 10
Booty:49
Defense vs Blunt: 11
Defense vs Sharp: 14
Defense vs Distance: 9
Academy Level: 10
Research in Academy: Horse Archery. Cost 8 Research Points.

Additionally, if Stables - a new building, was introduced into the game, and it should be in my opinion, you'd need Stables at level 3 to build Horse Archers.

Horse Archers were superior to most Ranged units in ancient and medieval warfare due to their speed.
This would be a perfect, fast Attack Ranged/Distance unit.
Superior to the old/generic Slingers in every aspect.
And you know why?
Because Slingers are good for children books, not for a Wargame.

And, like with other units I recently proposed the addition of, they wouldn't replace the old/generic units. To be able to build better, new elite units I urge the addition of into Grepo, a player would need to upgrade the buildings and research new fields in Academy. And there's a limit of research points available. And, before he or she can get there, one still needs armies. So, slingers would still get build before cities reach certain size, plus slingers cost 1 pop and horse archer 3. The amount of available unit choices would make you think before you decide which units to specialize a city in.

Can you stop spamming the forum with useless ideas? Really, its not necessary to make every idea into a separate thread.

No I can't. This is the Ideas forum. I'm entitled to present my ideas. I don't care about opinions of players like you. Only those of Devlopers of this game and I know they are from time to time reading this forum.

Tell you what, you don't like my threads? STOP REPLYING TO THEM! keep your opinions to yourself.

If you want developers opinions then spam the development blog with them and not here .. external forums are for players to comment and discuss, so what right have you to tell players not to make comments?

sorry to break it to you but you are just wasting your own time, especially on EN/international server...

if any community idea for the game gets implemented into it, it comes from german external forums where developers actually check the forums for community input, so far most heroes and new features were realized because of that community feedback, not saying your ideas arent good, i just dont see them being even considered because inno does not like to make huge changes to the game like new gods, new units, new buildings or new research, most they can do these days is create a new hero.

  • With the statistics that you have listed, the horse archer is significantly worse in attack than the slinger.
  • If you successfully created statistics for a unit that was better than a slinger in every aspect, it would invalidate slingers: Academy/Barracks 10 are easy to reach by the end of Beginners' Protection, and as properly-specialised cities generally have a few research points left over after the essentials, the slight increase in research points would not affect usage.
  • This game is focused on Greek civilisation; slingers were a fairly common element in Greek armies, whereas horse archers were generally associated with other civilisations such as the Parthians (and only tended to appear alongside Greek troops as foreign mercenaries).
