Anwser by german CO CM:
Pandoras Box: Belohnungen skalieren nicht mit Spielfortschritt
He is basically saying that IG want to weaken rewards generally and want to stop the reward tide. Thats why awards dont scale with size. Big rewards are supposed to be something special. Still they realized that rewards for Pandoras Box were to weak in relation to needed activity which will be watched in future events.

Sorry guys I was out most of today. Yeah most of the rewards don't scale so the higher power/better rewards feel more special. It's also why there were quite a few simple rewards like the 1 type resource boost, the same as you get in some island quests, in the early boxes.

From what I've seen from alliance chats:
The thing where you can't get 100% success rate feels unfair for the amount of effort the event requires
Especially later on where there's more chance to fail even with perfect ratios

This is a little thought I had

The base chance lowers throughout the boxes, but the chance you get for finding the right ratio increases accordingly so that the total is always 100%

The next change isn't necessary but I can imagine that Inno would want there to be at least something that you have to do to get 100% chance
Every mission requires two types of units, just like now, but the ratio is randomized
To help with getting the ratio we get the value we need to beat (for example x ranged attack y sharp attack for an escort quest)
That way we can figure out the right amount of units to send to have that same ratio but in the corresponding defense, maybe dumb the units down a bit so that archers don't have ranged def and such to make it easier for people

Basically the same event overall but less infuriating :D

Any reason the established troop ratio has changed on Thrasus' Trail? I'm losing an awful lot of troops because of it. :(

Thrasus' trail is now chariots and slingers rather than horses and slingers I believe.

I think they made a mistake at first; Plague of the Kako.. is also horses and slingers so I guess the changed it so the two missions weren't the same.

Thanks - I originally used chariots (going by illustration) but when that didn't work switched to horses. That it was a mistake makes sense. But I wish I could get my horses back!!

this monstrosity of an event is becoming ridiculous. There seems no "rhymn nor reason" to a successful mission or a failed mission.. doing level 15.
I have spent no Gold
-I send troops with the maximum %'s and they fail..
-I send the wrong troops...ie slingers instead of archers..I get Base %+9-12% and they make it...so what is the point in all of this.
level 14- I averaged well over 1 failure for every success- so whats the point when perfect %'s fail..

This event ranks among the worst since i started, so bad I wonder if it wasnt intentional... help us peons appreciate the money grabs more and wish for the Gold old days.

When prizes in a contest are less than what I would get on a daily bonus...why?
at least keep rewards at the epic level for a minimum

yeah, the amount of times i had max percentage, around box 21, they all just fail and fail, its ridiculous.

Speaking from someone whom has spent a large deal on events. Currently on Box 27 and I can say, even if I were to continually spend as I do, reaching box 40 is utterly impossible. I am not sure what the developers where thinking when they designed this atrocity. Spending 100s for a couple of units each day that last for 1 or 2 missions at a later stage, makes gold use absolutely irrelevant... not to mention the fail rate, which let's face it, 9 fails in a row is NOT max odds of 48%

Congrats Inno for tricking players into attempting to achieve an impossible task. You've outdone yourselves on this one.

Agree with Raydium. This is the first time I've tried for a top place in a contest, and I've put in a ridiculous amount of time and gold to reach level 21, where I'm stuck for lack of troops with 1 mission left and a refusal to pay the inflated gold prices that will leave me with just enough troops to lose in 1, maybe 2 tries. There's no way I can continue at this pace and reach 40, even putting in the time and gold.

And yes, I've sent the wrong troops and thought, "Crap, no way will the mission succeed" ... and then it does! It's happened several times! The success percentages are obviously no help in making a decision on which troops to send.

Perhaps it would help if the troop count per purchase could go up as players level up? That's the only way a gold purchase would be worth it to me at this point.

So after over 13 hours and 9 failed missions in a row (using the right troops at the maximum probability of success) I finally closed box 21. That is crazy. If non-golding players are experiencing the same thing they won't even make it to level 20, and the rewards other than the 10s are meh.

I do think that not having to use your in-game fighting troops keeps folks more active in the game, but the difficulty in playing this without them makes this event a FAIL.

I like it. I cant see the point of spending gold which is good. Early on you dont really need gold and later it would take huge amounts to have much impact.

In retrospect I think the way to do it is to save troops early on when % is very high. Now im having to do lots with a much reduced number and i admit as long as the ratio is right the bonus is still quite high.

I think its great that its all about activity but now that ive got to 22 I am getting frustrated by all the escapes. To get to 40 you have to do 2 boxes a day. Early on with a bit of gold you could have done more and now im thinking thats the only way you can ever get to 40. Its starting to get demoralising and thats surely not what the game wants.

The Thrassus change threw me as well - its not the only change in some boxes either. The instructions didnt change so it just looked odd.

So I think I've unlocked the secret to winning this. Box 22 this morning. Closed it in 8 tries. How? I SENT THE WRONG TROOPS ON MISSIONS. It didn't matter how low the chance of success was (10% even!) I won all 4 of the times I sent random troops. The only downside to it is that you don't get many points for the wrong troops. So - if you want to close boxes, send the troops you have the most of, regardless of their chance. If you want to win the event, you probably should stick to the correct troops until you can't then close the box with wrong ones. Hopes this helps with the frustration people are experiencing!

It is getting pretty hard to close these boxes and it is pretty frustrating. I'm not sure I'll make it to box 40 and I'm one of the highest ranked on the serve I'm playing. I'm not too upset about it though. To me still the most important thing is that the event isn't giving insane advantages to just a few players. I'd rather be frustrated about fail rates in the event than frustrated about fail rates on sieges because every noob has 4 manti nukes.

Rewards are weak and it's frustrating but it's not screwing up the game itself. If you're frustrated you can just not spend a lot of time on it. You aren't missing all that much if you don't play at all compared to those who play the event hard.
