Raze cities

I take your city but you suck. Your research is bad and I have 10 cities on island already. So instead of keeping it or handing it off I can raze it. It goes boom, becomes anchor point

Also let’s you ditch your back line cities if you have slot problems. Big stonks

Your poor judgement on taking the city and you can't be much better if you have 10 cities on an island!!!

Obviously that's an exaggeration. But this solves a lot of problems. For example,
if you're playing in a small team and you're unable to close islands ---> Take and raze
someone is spamming you with a small city from an undesirable location ---> Take and raze
you don't want to take rock cities as its domination end game but a salty player founds on one to annoy you ---> Take and raze
you suspect an enemy of using an alt account to boost or favor farm ---> Take it and raze it

If taking cities is the most important thing in the game, you should have more options with what you can do with the city once you take it. It doesn't change anything per se, it just adds another option

It changes the whole game .. thats the point of choosing wisely. You make your choice of how you will use your slots and unless you can pass them to someone else you are stuck with them. If you can dispose of cities at will and regain the slots it changes the balance of the game .. if you are playing a Domination server why would you take rock cities in the first place? Hail it to dust maybe or ask a player that won't be in final team to take it but you would be silly to take it yourself ... in that case of an alt account then report together with all your evidence

Just a few points here:
  • If you have that many cities on an island, you shouldn't be concerned about another one, unless you've run out of slots and need to take something important (in which case, you shouldn't have taken this city in the first place).
  • If you take a city that you don't want/need, simply to remove the player from that island, try to organise a handover to a teammate. There's nothing bad about having teammates on your island (unless they steal all your BP, but if you've already taken all the enemy cities, that's not an issue). Similarly, if you have run out of slots, try to organise something with a teammate - I'm sure there will be people in your team with spare slots or who need to be in that area. (And if it's an area that none of your team want to be in, then why are you there in the first place?)
  • Bad research can be irritating. But usually it's not irreparable, given the limited number of researches actually required for certain city builds (naval cities in particular). Having to reset the odd research is something you have to learn to accept in this game, if you want your cities "perfect".

To address your "problems that razing would solve":
  • If you raze the city and an anchor appears in its place, that doesn't close the island, because enemies are free to colonise there. (Which they are especially likely to do if it's your core, or a potential WW island.)
  • If someone is spamming you, then best to at least report them first. The least desirable locations for spamming are usually a long way away from your cities (beyond the rim being a favourite for players that specialise in spam) - you may well be out of CS range. Anyone that dedicated to spam will likely just restart or colonise again, so it doesn't solve the problem in the majority of cases.
  • If your opponent has founded on a small island in Domination, that's a city slot that your opponent doesn't have counting towards their team's Domination percentage. You have to make a tactical decision as to whether to take it (hamstringing yourself) or just treat it as a target to hit for BP / resources / etc and let the opponent's slot remain locked up there. Your "solution" of razing is effectively wanting to have your cake and eat it too.
