I would say 3

Got it ^^

Explanation: The first number's value doesn't matter at all. The second number is based on how many letters are in the first number

12(twelve) has 6 letters in it
6(six) has 3 letters in it
10(ten) also has 3 letters in it

(Sorry if this one has already been posted, it's fairly common)

Two spies are observing an enemy camp, looking for a way to get in. When it is dark, and the guard cannot recognize the men, he uses a code. One spy sneaks in close one night and overhears the guard talking to men as they come in.

Guard: The first number is 12, what is the second number?
Man: 6
Guard: You may enter

After several more minutes, another man approaches him

Guard: The first number is 6, what is the second number?
Man: 3
Guard: You may enter

The spy, thinking he has found out the code, approaches the guard

Guard: The first number is 10, what is the second number?
Spy: 5

The guard immediately pulls out a gun and kills the spy. It is up to you, the second spy, to figure out the code. What is it?

I love that one :D

A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him?

A man was going to die soon and had to decide which of his three sons got his fortune. To decide he gave each soon some money to buy stuff and try and fill their entire living room. The first son bought straw, but couldn't fill the room. The second bought feathers, but couldn't fill the room. The third brother won. What did the third brother buy to fill the room?

The man who invented it,
Doesn't want it for himself.
The man who bought it,
Doesn't need it for himself.
The man who needs it,
Doesn't know it when he needs it.
