Single Player Alliances

Are there any other Single Player alliances survinging out there? I realise I have taken an odd strategy for the game that goes against what is considered "common knowledge" of how to play.

I have kept my citties compact and close. Play very defensively, honnor pacts or neutrality, and focus on colonizing as opposed to getting every plum in the area.

Has anyone else has success as a single player alliance?

I have seen 1 player alliance before but i personally think its not a good idea sooner or later an alliance bigger than your self will take you on as a target. and i have never seen a 1 player alliance being successful. there is nothing better than playing as a team.

Bob Newgot's 1-man 1-city alliance (down from an original 3-man 3-city alliance)
Playing for a year and still yet to reach 3000 points. I can't say much for his game play, but I applaud the persistence.
