Swapping Conquest Attempts: Player A/Player B

What are the results of Player A's attempt to conquer a city of Player B, if B can somehow cobble together a conquest attempt that arrives at A's attacking city first and it succeeds?

Does Player A lose just his conquered city?
Do they lose the city and all the troops intransit and any at the city of Player B?
Do they continue with their attack on Player B and if that attack also succeeds do the two players in effect just swap cities?
Or, is there some other entirely different result in this case?

Thanks,

If A only has 1 city, he will be rimmed.
If A`s attack is being launched from another city thatn the one he is losing to B, his conquest will continue.
If its from the same city, B will win the city - the soldiers of A will cease to exist. Weh a city is conquered, all of its soldiers that are outside the city, be it farming, supporting or attacking are lost.

So, assuming that you can get the timing down correctly when you are attacked, it is possible to launch your own counter Conquest attempt at the city that sent/is sending the colony ship and cause your attacker to fail completely or at the very least significantly blunt the attacks on your city. I assume that any supporting troops from your attacker's other cities or from his alliance would still keep attacking until you wiped them out, but with no colony ship in the mix you would not get conquered on this attempt anyway.

yeah, if you have multiple cities, you can send a counter to the attacking city from a city that is closer to his attacking city than the city he is going for.
Its rare, because people normaly go for the city closest to their attacking city (to shorten CS travel (in conquest worlds).
In revolts its more likeley to happen, but its still rare, you would have to have a city closer to his, that has a CS in harbor and is equipped with enough men to escort the CS

If you conquer the city from which the CS is coming from then his attack will disappear since all troops are destroyed.
