1- The Home page

At first, you’ll see the home page.
Dsv82kM.jpg
On this page you see several colors and tabs. I’ll be explaining every little part of them.
vhw5.png

The words in the dark brown squares will tell you about what its tabs will be dealing with. In this case: announcements. If you look down you’ll see several tabs.
1jUcpGb.png
Each of these tabs is a forum. Their title explains about what the threads in these tabs will be talking about. Like this, the first tab will be explaining community announcements (Updates, new features, …etc ).
4y52.png
This for example will be dealing about the world Zacynthus. Everything that is related to this world specifically, will be posted here. Users can post PnP’s, Newpapers, discussions… here. This will be explained at a later point of the guide.
Still at the general home page you can see a few symbols.
tBUCZZE.png
  1. This means the world-forum contains new posts. You can enter the world by clicking on its name. In this case ‘World Thebes (en64)'.
  2. This symbol means that this tab has no new posts since the last time you read them.
  3. Each world has its own moderator. More info about the moderators is given here.
  4. Several forums have a few sub-forums. In this case the symbol means that the sub-forum of this world has new posts.
  5. As I said in point 4 the world has several sub-forums, this one has no new posts since the last time you checked them.
  6. Each world has settings in which the world is played. This affects gaming style, speed, different conquests systems etc… The settings of this world are shown here.
  7. In here you can see in what thread the latest post was made (in this world forum), by who and at what time.

2- A forum

Let’s enter one of these world forums.
When you click on a world forum you’ll enter that forum. As said before, worlds have sub-forums. The first sub-forum will be dealing about the alliances in that world and the second one will have a random purpose (as the moderator chooses it to be).
In the world forum you’ll see several threads. Each of these threads talks about a certain topic.
8rLlqhi.jpg
  1. This is a sub-forum of the world’s forum. This sub-forum has no new posts.
  2. The sub-forum has new posts since the last time you checked, or read the forum.
  3. The 2 white arrows down in the blue circle will direct you to the last unread post in this thread. Like this you won’t have to search for the last post you read.
  4. This thread contains no new posts since the last time you read them.
  5. This symbol with the white arrow means that you have replied on this thread. This might be useful if you want to search a few of your latest posts.
  6. This is a prefix. When posting a new thread you can choose between several prefixes (this is explained at "Making a thread").
  7. This is the rating of the thread. Forum users can rate threads according to their ‘liking’ of the thread. How to rate a thread will be explained at a later point.
  8. Here you’ll see who was the last user who has posted in this thread, and at what time. This might be useful to know.

3- Making a thread, replying to a thread and thread options

You can simply make a new thread by clicking on the ‘Post new thread’ button.
6qwy.png
You’ll see this screen. As you can see, there are several options.
10nKWpV.png

  1. When you click on this you'll have a choice of several prefixes. Prefixes are used to show the forum users what kind of thread is posted. Here a brief explenation about the prefixes:
Top 12: The Top 12 - prefix is used for all threads that will be discussing events, or changes in the top-12 of a world. This top 12 can concern Alliance rankings and Player rankings.
Milestones: Every world wants their own milestones. This prefix is used to show the world which thread contains the milestones of that world, so people can see who reached a certain requirement as first, second and third.
PnP: PnP stands for Politics and Propaganda. Sometimes it is easy to deceive your enemies by propaganda, or just discuss politics with both allies and enemies. If you want to start a thread to make propaganda, then use this prefix! More information about PnP can be found in the Forum rules
Newspaper: The forum also offers the possibility of writing newspapers. If you have something important to announce, or you just want to show your writing skills to the world, then feel free to use this prefix!
Important: This prefix can only be used by moderators. Moderators will use this prefix if they have something important to say.You better check the thread! ;)
Announcement: Just as the Important-prefix this is a prefix that can only be used by moderators. As you can already guess, this prefix is used for announcements concerning the forum or the game.
  2. The title. You'll want to show your 'readers' what you'll be talking about. Use a good title!
  3. This is the text field. As you can see there are several options on the text field. Just by clicking on the white area you'll be able to type your text. To 'spice up' your text, you can use a few of the options. In general those options can be used by using the so-called BB-codes. BB-codes are just the codes that are used to format your text. With BB-codes you can make your text bold, italic... You can use them by clicking on their symbol or by typing the code. A complete list of all BB-codes with their functions can be found at the next chapter of this guide.
  4. These are the icons you can choose. The icon you selected will be shown in front of the thread title in the forum.
    6ny.png
  5. These are the emoticons. They are explained further at BB-codes.

If you like a certain thread you can 'rate' the thread. This can be done by entering the thread and clicking on 'Rate this thread'.

4- Post options, BB-codes and their functions

  • Fonts: You can make a nice lay-out to your text by having different fonts. By selecting this button
    eLRe9z4.png
you'll be able to choose a font you like.
  • Text Size: As in every text editor you'll be able to choose different sizes for your text. By selecting the 'Size' button
    vCcAIrS.png
you'll have a wide choice of sizes. You can also choose the right size you want by typing it like this: [noparse][SIZE=(enter the size you want here)]Your text[/SIZE][/noparse]. [noparse]This[/noparse] will become This
  • Text Color: To give your text nice colors, you can use the color button.
    q7gSaxw.png
This is the easiest way to give your text a color, but of course you can also type it.
  • Smilies (emoticons): To express what you feel/think you can use one of the many emoticons that this forum offers. They can be found to the right of your text field or by using the smiley button
    xU9GtA5.png
. Of course you can also type them, to find out how click on the 'More' button at the right of your screen.

You can disable smilies by selecting this button:
    ySK7ZmF.png
You can find this button at the bottom of your page, at 'Additional Options'
  • Attachments: By selecting the attachment button
    ITvNIxZ.png
you'll be able to add an attachment to your post.
  • Undo/Redo: Just as in every other text editor you can undo or redo your latest actions by clicking on the arrows.
  • Bold: If you want to have certain words in bold then you have to select the word(s) you want in bold and then click on the Bold Button. You can also just type the appropriate BB-code. [noparse]This[/noparse] will become This
  • Italic: You also have the option to write in italic. To do this you can select the 'Italic' button in the same way as you select the Bold Button. This can also be typed: [noparse]This[/noparse] will become This
  • Strike through: You have the possibility to strike through certain parts of your text, this can easily be done by this BB-code: [noparse]this[/noparse] will become this.
  • Underline: Sometimes you'll want to underline certain parts of your post. To do this select the part you want to underline and then click the underline button. Just as the previous BB-code you can also type this one: [noparse]This[/noparse] will become This
  • Align Left: You can align your text to the left. But you automatically align your text left, so this button isn't used.
  • Center: You can simply center your text by clicking the center button
    7a8hudn.png
or by typing the code around the text you want to center:
    [noparse]
    This
    [/noparse] will become
    This
  • Align Right: You can align your text to the right by using this button:
    o272.png

  • Make a numbered list: If you want to make a numbered list then you can use this button:
    I0tdbf9.png
. A pop up will appear. Then you type the first value of your list, then press enter. Then the second value, enter...etc. You can, once again, also type the BB-code for this:
    [noparse]
    1. Value 1
    2. Value 2
    [/noparse] will become this:
    1. Value 1
    2. Value 2
  • Make a bulleted list: Naturally you can also make a normal list (without the numbers) For this you can use this button
    SOsW8sd.png
or just type the BB-code. This code is the same as the previous one (see Numbered list), except that you remove the '=1'. [noparse]
    • Value 1
    • Value 2
    [/noparse] equals
    • Value 1
    • Value 2
  • Increase/Decrease Indent:
    slPF9qs.png
By using these buttons you'll be increasing/decreasing the indent of your text.
  • Insert a link (URL): If you want to refer to other threads or sites it might be useful to use this option. Like this you'll be able to click on the url. First of all type 'the title' of the URL. This will be the text that will be shown on the post (as we don't want to see the entire URL). Then click on the 'Link Button' to put the URL around it. Copy the URL of the site you want to refer to, and paste it in the popup. You'll see this in your text-field: [noparse]The Grepolis Forums[/noparse]. Once posted you'll see this: The Grepolis Forums
  • Email: By clicking on the little envelope
    nfWTUnu.png
you can add your email address. If someone clicks on it your mail-center will open and will be able to write a message to you. We advise you not to use this, as it can lead to spam of your mailbox. We are not responsible for the consequences.
  • Insert an image: If you want to post an image you can do this on two ways. The first possibility is to upload it from your computer. For this there are several sites who can do this (imgur , imageshack ...). Upload it to the site and copy the image URL (it ends on .png , Jpeg, etc...). Then click the image button
    130q.png
. Or you can just type it: [noparse]
    greopolis.jpg
    [/noparse] will result in:
    greopolis.jpg

  • Quote: You can quote posts from other users. This can be done in several ways. A first option is by using the quote button at the options
    L0lKTsd.png
    or type it [noparse]
    your text
    [/noparse] will become
    your text
Secondly, you have the multi-quote option when you want to reply to a poster. Select all the posts you want to quote by using this button
    sxU8pYD.png
and click reply afterwards. All the messages you want to quote will be in your textfield. If you want to reply on just one post you can use the 'Reply with Quote' button.
  • Code, HTML, PHP: These are barely used.
    9BdbmU1.png
By clicking on one of these buttons you can write pieces of code for computer programs.
  • Make a Table (and its options):
    rlIr5V4.png
All these buttons serve to make a table. You can make a table for your posts, this gives your readers a nice overview.
  • Subscript/ Superscript: Just as in every text editor you can select [SUB]Subcript[/SUB] and [SUP]Superscript[/SUP]. Do this by selecting this button
    ymvtDMp.png

  • Line: Between two chapters of your post, or just to separate two parts you can use the line option
    nk1b.png
    or type this: [noparse]
[/noparse]. This will have as result that a line is drawn under your text.
  • 'Noparse': This is a hidden BB-code. You can only type it. Putting the 'noparse' BB-code around another BB-code has as effect that the BB-code doesn't work. For example [noparse][noparse]I want this in bold[/noparse][/noparse] will have as effect: [noparse]I want this in bold[/noparse]
  • Spoiler: The spoiler BB code is an other hidden bb-code. Though, it is used a lot (for images).
You can easily add a spoiler by using the following BB-code: [noparse]
    This
    [/noparse] will become
    This
  • Referring to user: If, in your text, you refer to a certain forum-user you can use the User-BB code. This looks a lot like the 'Player' BB-code ingame, but you replace 'Player' by 'User': [noparse][user]Jorisva1[/user][/noparse] will result in [user]Jorisva1[/user].

5- User specific options

Once logged in you'll see several options on top of your screen.
quJI6Ne.png
First of all you see your username (in this case that's Jorisva1). By clicking on it you'll be directed to your profile page, as it is seen by everyone else. From here you can join groups, edit contacts, view your visitor messages and edit your 'About Me' page.

Next to your username there is a button 'Notifications'. Through this you'll be notified about new messages (both Mails as visitor messages) and new reputation comments. When you have a new notification, it will be shown when you hover over the button with your mouse. From there you can see what's new, and you can click on it to view the new message/reputation comment.

The third button is 'My profile'. This is just the same as the button with your username. You can edit your groups, contacts, 'about me' - page and view your visitor messages.

Then there is the 'settings' button. In here you can see all the threads and forums you are subscribed to. Like this you can easily check which threads/forums contain new posts, and you can move to that thread/forum with one click.
Lower at the page you will see the latest infractions/warnings received. (it's better if you have none ;) ). Please look further at Forum Rules and Moderators for more information.
Below this you will find the latest reputation points received. If users like/dislike your post they can add /take away reputation points to your account. Every user has their own reputation power. This reputation power is calculated and takes post count, joining date and reputation points into account. When a user with reputation power = 40 gives reputation to an other user then that user will receive 40 reputation points. After a certain amount of reputation you'll get a green/red bar, depending if you receive negative or positive reputation points.

At the left of your settings-screen you'll see this
3e02Wkk.png
From there you are able to check your messages, and create a message to an other user. You can also send a message to an other user by clicking on their name and choose for 'Send Private Message'. You also have the possibility of sending a 'Visitor message'. To do this you simply go to the user's profile, select 'Visitor messages' and then post your message. Note: Visitor messages are public to everyone!

From the settings -page you can also check your subscriptions and edit your profile.

6- Moderators, reporting posts and Forum rules

As you perhaps already saw there are a lot of moderators. The job of a moderator is to keep the game free of cheaters and keep the forums clean. More info about the moderators and their duties can be found here.

Just like every forum, we have rules. They can be found here. It is your job to follow them. If you do not follow the rules you'll be given warnings and infractions. If you reach 10 infraction points, you'll be banned. More information about this can be found in the Forum Rules. If you see that an other user breached a forum rule then you can report that post by clicking on this little symbol
e1RdTtk.png
. You can find it under the user's name and next to the post you want to report. When you report a message it will be shown to the moderators. They will then take a look at the reported post and take appropriate action.

!Do not rip!
We worked hard on the creation of this guide. You are not allowed to copy this guide for your own purposes without the written authorization of a senior moderator!
