Definitely...this is the book that really got me started with reading (apart from the boring school books)...
Reread it at least 8 times already, and everytime the experience is different.

When was it not the best book? I absolutely love it. I first read it as one of the Graphic Novel things and that is what made me love J.R.R Tolkien .

The Hobbit is responsible for so much more, aside from being a book - most 'high fantasy' concepts like Warcraft, Dragon Age, etc. etc. are influenced by Tolkien's creations. :p

The Hobbit and the Lord of the rings books are amazing, Tolkien is a great writer. There a few other books worth mentioning though: Kite runner, A thousand splendid suns, the boy in the striped pyjamas, Tamar etc.

Bleurgh, Harry Potter is not worthy of this thread.

Honestly, I got a little bored reading LOTR. I don't feel that it had the same charm and momentum as the Hobbit.
