Who Am I to Wander?

Who am I to stay,
To tell myself where to go?
You command my heart,
And, always, I must follow.

Who am I to leave,
To depart from where I know?
But you inspire such wonder,
So forever I must follow.

Who am I to venture,
To see beyond this small home?
For without you, they are but gray-
Thus with you I must follow.

Who am I to wander,
All comforts of you to forgo?
I love you beyond all measure-
Eternally I choose to follow.

Who am I, who am I,
To ask for such a splendor?
What perfection, what beauty-
You – my one and only desire.

From Whence I Came to Wander?

From whence I came to wander,
To journey between ambiguities-
Strutting about in such pride,
Just now discovering life’s simplicities?

From whence I came to wander?
Blind with hope of uncovering sight,
My pilgrimage led my heart here,
Now to realize the trek is trite.

From whence I came to wander!
From glory or desperation?
My past is but a faded painting,
Discernible but without grandeur.

From whence I came to wander?
Tell me, so that I may return.
I no longer wish to remain,
In a place where hope must be earned.

From whence I came to wander,
Life was encouraged, not diluted.
Joy, abundant. Fears, conquered.
But such worlds? All a delusion.

"Now to realize the trek is trite."

Balderdash. Pure rubbish. I expect better a pebble, nay, I demand better. Pull your head out of that putrid den of decay you call your behind and write something worthy of this exalted audience's time and consideration. Don't post again until you're ready to deliver something truly exceptional. By the way, how are you? Haven't chatted with you in quite some time. You still writing poetry?
:p

The bolded part wasn't there when I read it, nor was it there when I wrote about it here.
It is there now because after I commented here in this thread that it was funny, a mod removed the gif.

Since the gif was funny, appropriate to the comment it accompanied (which was not removed) and not offensive in any way, and I have seen other gifs remaining on the forum, I have the same suspicion that its removal was linked to this thread and to the ongoing friction between archon and pebble.
Which frankly is rather sad and self fulfilling.
Gifs are still not allowed. Just because sometimes the mods don't notice doesn't mean that when one does it's because the mod hates that player. All it means is that mod is doing their job better than the others.

Poor pebble. He never gets a break.

Yep, and just because I reported them and they weren't removed gives me the impression the mod probably did notice them ;)
but yeah, its fine to apply the rules differently for different people, especially really confusing and woolly ones like "gifs are not allowed", because it helps to give a good impression of fairness and nvm, I am sure the point is obvious.

The Poet and the Princess

It’s simple, or it should be.
A simple equation of interaction-
Yet I can’t seem to see all the pieces.

She eludes me, beyond my mere means,
How beyond myself am I? -
A servant aspiring to a queen.

Every smile, the grandest treasure.
Each glance an inspiration.
With her voice, the most alluring tune

The poet and the princess,
The commoner and the queen-
A tale that likely goes unwritten.

By the Daydream

I once prayed for an angel-
Pleaded for a bringer of peace.
That someone may, from these chains
Grant me my release

No voice was ever heard,
Only thunder mocking my plea.
All alone, the chains wore my skin-
The only comforter? Me.

I told myself stories,
Scrawled poems on the prison of my mind
Through myself I saw freedom,
And freedom was all I wished to find.

Whispering tale after tale,
Some of heroes, some of sorrow-
The world became my lonely cell,
Each story begging the dawn to bring tomorrow

These rusted chains,
These burdens upon my naïve soul,
Grew lighter by the daydream-
With every minute my mind stole.

Then the shackles released,
The world exposed yet again-
Though scars of this past stay with me,
A new life I am prepared to begin.

I once prayed for an angel,
Begging they may return me my peace.
But my prison was not theirs to empty.
For only within myself could I be released.

From Contrariety

Layered in red, shadows coiled upon themselves,
Delicate by nature, a scent of the most delightful flavor

Encapsulating beauty, tantamount to romance
Defenseless in ideology, yet thorned ‘til you know its name.

Innocence deemed as innate, purity portrayed universal,
Yet from the dirt comes its source - defilement, its benefactor.

A profession of love, or farewell to one’s death,
A rose, a rose – perfection emergent from contrariety.

An interesting work there.

The Last Goodnight

I’ll stand on the edge of forever waiting for your hand to touch mine.
I’ll spend a lifetime’s worth of regret in the moment I walk away.
You – the focus of my adoration, your eyes the aim of my heart.
And I’ll waste my chance at heaven for one moment to see your face.

The waves of the sea of desperation crash upon my mind,
Washing away all but my love for you, withstanding time.
I miss you all too dearly, my life-abandoned lover,
For death to steal away the youthful, surely the greatest crime.

I stand upon the edge of forever, staring off to the waters of remembrance,
Wondering that if I were to fall, would I see you once more?
Are you lost to me, trapped beneath waters of nonexistence,
Or are you looking out from the ocean, awaiting my greeting the shore?

I miss you, my dearest, how the night misses the sun.
Deep down I pray I shall see you, when I embrace the light.
But until that time comes upon me, in its own time and will,
I must bid you a solemn adieu, and a first of many last goodnights.
