Personally I like to use lightships for defense because they look cool. I am smart and use Fast Transport ships to attack because they are so fast. Team those up with Pegasus and you have an unstoppable attack force!

People are complaining that hero worlds are too easy to get into. Actually what the hero worlds need is a written test with 5 questions.

1. What is the best unit for land defense?
A. a slinger
B. A swordsmen

2. Are archers good for attacking?
A. Yes
B. No

3. Is desire meant to be cast on your troops or your enemies troops?
A. Yes
B. No

4. are you suppose to include an attacking ship in an attack with land units?
A. No, that's silly why would you need attacking ships when you are only going to be fighting the enemies land units.
B. Yes just in case the enemy city still has ships.

5. A good mythical unit for attack is
A. Cerberus
B. Manticore/Griffin

With #5 a lot of people don't yet know how a Griffin fights because they only appear in the HW's. Maybe replace Griffin with Manticore.
