this is a rough sketch of an idea that I have been tooling around. Please rip it down or band aid it up as you see fit.

Proposal:
Grant the ability to interrupt, or divert trades

Have you Checked the DNS and PSI lists in the Archives? no, I am sure something might be similar??

Reason:
When engaging an enemy we currently have the ability to attack, spy, spell bomb a city, etc.. However up until this idea trade has been more or less a free reign. that has to end

Details:
I am very open to suggestion here and I see a number of avenues for this, My first idea is cave enhancement of some kind. Basically, each level of the cave you have constructed will allow some percentage of a "trade block". Say 5% chance per cave level up to 50% chance. So basically you click on an enemy city, In the trade tab there will be a new option that says "trade embargo" or something whitty. There you can select up to 50% chance for stopping trade for say 2 hours, You pay 1000 silver from the cave for each 5% chance of stopping trade up to 50% chance.

Visual Aids:
Nah

Balance:
Defenders now have the ability to receive unlimited resources for wall/troop rebuilding when under an attack. The only thing an attacker can do currently is plague the city which is of course a waste of spell power. Now we can effectively potentially block this resource from ever arriving. If trade is blocked resources would simply deflect to the originating city. although a "steal" option would be swell.

Abuse Prevention:
None to my knowledge

Summary:
I would love for other ideas here, My main goal is to make trade dynamic and less powerful

What? Encounter a city that is just too tough for you to crack? :p nah I'm sure we all have. Let's see, first there is a that it could fail. Second, that person could get support from someone else so even if you stopped their troop production you can't stop the support.

If your talking conquest, what's the problem? I send an attack and a cs. Let's say it fails. I send a follow up attack (I'm going to assume that the first attack did decently) that would only let them build like 20-30 more swords or archers, at the most. Big deal. And on the off chance I use catapults in the attack. Attack fails but 8 levels of a 25 luck wall is knocked down. They won't have time to build the next luck. Unless the attack fails, but in that case I still took down more troops. (Not too clear but you should get the picture)

Well if it is that easy then nevermind. All I hear on this forum is how the defender has such an advantage. I never really believed that. but apparently neither does anyone else. Everyone check out shadis, if your first cs fails just send another one, no problem, I cannot believe I never thought of that. Thanks I am going to try that on the next ghost I conquer.

I myself have pondered this idea for awhile, almost like your intercepting resources, the player who sends the resources would also have to send in an escort, I also think that the person that intercepted should get the resources. But also they should only be able to do this during a revolt, otherwise you'd have bigger players just taking resources from intercepting trades all day, over all I like, +rep

Hey, it's their money, I don't care what they do within :)
I just send cats with my attack, wall or no walls

Whoa sorry man. I never said it was going to always be easy. And yes, the defender has the advantage, but I just don't think this will do much for it. I like how it would add variety and realism but.... perhaps some more tuning. Tip it in the offensive favour some more and we'll see.

Why not have a navel trade embargo where the ships sit outside the city steeling all the resources that come in, to break it y9ou can attack from either the city that is being embargoed or any other city?
