Triremes

Finally Triremes will be useful on Revolt worlds, they were always useful to an extent on conquest worlds due to the need to accompany and defend a CS once it had arrived, but now with Revolt they can also be used to quickly defend against CS attacks and revolt attacks too. Very good re-balance in my opinion.

(P.S. nice to see you again Achilles :))

Even with the changes I don't think I'd be likely to build any purely because they still won't match the equivalent population spend in biremes or LS, although the speed buff might make them a specialized build for hunting LS. But I'd genuinely love to see people rushing them in to defend places biremes can't reach fast enough - the ABP scoring potential there for us attack-oriented players is enormous :)

I suggest a bit less of a speed buff and a bit less of a fighting power buff but a BIG reduction in the population cost, that's what would really make the difference to numbers.

Great. I have a couple of Triremes though; but I hardly use them. I think with this improvement I will consider them more. Hooray!!!

You cannot simply say on every single re-balance, something else has a higher attack/defense per farm space and so this should be increased to be more. If that was the case then it would be a continuous chain reaction of making more powerful units, things have to be balanced, you have to have different options. Be able to sacrifice some attack for some speed etc.

And you :)

This is a good start for the Trireme I think a slight decrease in the pop would be good as well maybe 15 or 14 instead of 16. My biggest issue is they aren't pop and attack or defense comparable to straight LS or Bir's. This is a good change though and I will consider them more now. Thx

GREAT!!!
You have rebalanced the worst and useless unite in the game (just beaning honest here) they are mostly used to slow down the attacks (for timing) and . . . that is it . . . I think :p

Now def I am going to use them, for fast hits, LS nuke hunting, escort . . . so many ides are running around my head.
Good job!

The new triremes are too fast.
They are only 25% weaker than light ships and biremes, so you can make them with a 18 speed (only 25% faster than biremes)

Firstly remember this is a hybrid unit and also used for attack and they are more than 25% weaker than light ships so they should be faster than 25% of biremes. Secondly and more important I think that people will still trade off speed for power if its equal and I believe for this reason they should be faster than they are weaker.

Now reduce the pop required on the Tri's and hey you have a viable unit :p

Great changes though i can already see this having uses in certain situations.

It is nice to see the discussion on changing triremes but honestly if you want people to use them, give them troop carrying capabilities. The tri is a bigger ship than the bi, so show that. If a tri could attack, defend, and transport troops, then it would be worth building. Otherwise it really isn't very special when you consider the cost and how high up the tech tree it lays.

Im curious as to when the rebalancing will take effect...I really want to utilize triremes and have been patiently waiting..

Perfect, I love to use these to accompany my CS on Conquest worlds to avoid snipes.

I agree great with CS,would like to see them become even more relevant tho, maybe if they could also carry 5 units with bunks enabled just to give a bit more advantage...

That is a good idea!

I've long had the idea that if only Triremes could carry 5 soldiers it would make it much more useful. They would be good all around for attack revolt and early defense.

It would make the 12 research cost and heavy price worth it. However, it would also have to be fast maybe just a little slower than LS.

If this were to be implemented, ten maybe you should have to research both additional items. Trireme and Special Bunks for it. This of course does increase the expense of the ship even more with or without it being researched.

It look's if they get properly patched triremes could be a great unit in conquest world's!

I've played mainly revolt worlds after many disasters in Conquest worlds. One of the reasons was the inability to prevent an immediate snipe. But with a rebalanced Trireme they will definitely be useful. Paired up with the special bunks idea, the Trireme should make a great comeback in many more armies.
