Units for colonizing

I tried to colonize an island. However, the message was "there are not enough units in the City". I presume this means I have not sent enough land units to colonize the city. How many units are needed?

Any one to advise?

it means you dont have enough units in your city to the number of units your sending.

I only sent part of the land units to the city to be colonized. I don't understand as I know how many units I have as displayed.

Please advise.

dont colnise and CS someone instead. thats a proper good bit of advice:)
