Question useing a reinforcement reward with insufficient free population

ok so here's my dilemma,

I used my mant-reinforcement spell in in a town with democritus in it and I got lucky and it doubled.
thing is I have by far not enough free population for all these manticore's ( gonna get 6 per hour for 14 hours)

I want to know what happens now, if after 5 or so hours I hit the zero free population, am I gonna lose all other manticores or am I still gonna get them and does my free population gets below zero?

You cannot exceed your free population. Once you don't have the population left, the spell will stop producing, however if you free up the pop (send your mantis to attack the spell will keep producing more every hour.
