What is morale

I have seen it alot in world settings, but I have never really seen any explantion or definition of it. I checked guides and wiki, and there was nothing. I heard it has something to do with a high-points player attacking a lower point player, or is it something like mood that farming villages have. Can I please have someone explain?:eek:
