As the Masters world continues to progress and we move towards the endgame we're looking to gather our community's feedback on the Masters server. If you have any feedback about the Masters server and how it could be improved for future iterations or feedback on what worked well please share it with us here.

Qualification: Best method beyond Top 100? How to distribute invites across markets?

- Every player ever to be in the Hall of Fame should be getting an email, you'd bring back SO many players
- Minimum 100k greposcore
- You can still invite all the top100 players that you invited before, the more players the more fun the world is
- Invites for everyone who was top 100 at the end of the previous WM (or top 200)

World settings: Preferred speeds, Conquest vs. Revolt, morale on/off, alliance cap, etc.

- Speed was perfect, 5 is good, 6 is a little fast for some players coming from smaller regional servers, 4 is too slow for players from bigger ones, but in future if you do speed 5 CQ please make CQ time 6-8 hours rather than 10, this is after all the World Masters, if people want more lenient settings they should play their national servers
- I play both CQ and Revolt and CQ is definitely the more competitive gamemode but you'd make more money on revolt, perhaps alternate, also gives players a break after a long hard 6 months of world masters
- Morale off for sure, or we will abuse it 100%
- Ally cap at 50 was fine, doesn't really matter people will make multiple branches if you make it too small, anything 40-75 is fine

Endgame: World Wonders, Domination, Olympus or a yearly rotation?

- No olympus worlds for masters, it is a PvE gamemode
- WW and Dom only but really you should only do Dom, it's the gamemode you guys designed for people to dominate each other in fighting it is categorically the perfect gamemode for a world master showdown

Artifact: Same one again or a completely new one?

- This doesn't really matter to people, either WH buff or Zeus Spark or the one you're doing for this WM and people will be totally fine with it

Anything else that we should consider? Was there something you specifically enjoyed?

- It has been good fun to play against teams from around the world, the idea for the WM has certainly been a success, even if you have internal metrics that say it wasn't (I'm sure with no events revenue is lower than expected and I'm sure the demand for support has been wearying for CM's)
- You could add events if you wanted to make some money, but just not the recipe ones? Advent calendar, Sparta vs Hades, Battleships (fix extended inv token stacking before you add this though) etc
- A pre-set ruleset (just copy the EN ones?)
- Botting bans to start at 3 days (in case players stupidly run disallowed scripts from native servers or whatever) and subsequently perma
- Something needs to be done about CS boosting (and also cat boosting which will take its place). There is not a clear-cut solution but something needs to be done.
- DLU debuff (10-30%) for future CQ worlds will lead to less turtling of frontline. It will be easier to break walled cities, and players will be disincentivised to wall up since DLU will be weaker flier breaks will be more viable. It is currently very expensive to go for a flier break with herc nerf.
- Implement old island generation for future WMs. The gaps between islands are too large, which is uncompetitive.

Well done though, Inno took a brave step in the right direction by listening to the community and releasing something combining the playerbase from other worlds.

Accounts banned for botting should not be allowed on masters

Clear set of rules that isn't essentially "anything goes but we'll slap you with a random ban if we don't like your city name"

Accounts should have at least 1 win to be eligible

Alternate between CQ and rev

Dom as it encourages fighting

Maybe put some restrictions on restarting and/or remove the buff on first city when rimmed - with the aim to limit the impact of builders/alt accounts

I agree a lot with what was said above.

I think alternating between CQ and revolt makes sense.

I think Dom endgame is the best choice.

I think maybe requiring 2 wins would help weed out players who got carried in a random server, but I wouldn't be mad if only 1 win was required as I generally think more players in a server makes it more enjoyable.

I agree any account banned for botting should be inelgible.

No morale.

As someone who casually played the Masters world with a small crew, it was really fun fighting people from around the globe. Here are my humble suggestions for the next World Masters:

-Invites should be extended to people in the top 100(?) of Attack BP in various snapshots. On normal servers (not Masters), attacking means you're an aggressive player who is actively rebuilding troops and putting in the effort to play the game on both conquest and revolt. It also will exclude some people who build up towns to their max points, which is not optimal fighting gameplay. It also excludes people who will be boosting with defensive BP using double BP tokens by having teammates attack them. I'm not concerned with what the cutoff number is but the metric for Masters invites should be ABP.

-Get rid of rock islands (islands without farming villages) in the map generation. Every island being a farming village island on the most competitive server in the game would lead to amazing gameplay. Every island would be worth colonizing and taking cities on!

-Botting needs to be an instant permaban for all worlds and all future masters worlds. If it's such a serious offence that you need to develop an entirely new advisor for limiting this abuse it should be treated as such. You caught a lot of botters on Masters but it is very obvious some fell through the cracks. I won't level accusations because that's against forum rules but... everyone knows.

-Next Masters should be Revolt + Domination, as I think this creates a great dynamic for lots of back and forth city takes. Revolt is a lot easier to take a city in the midgame because you do not have to hold a siege. Simultaneously you can start alliance-wide mass revolts in coordinated ops. I do prefer this style especially because it weeds out inactive cities a lot faster than in Conquest. Let the fight begin!

I think you should try it but I don't think this would really work. Ex: Most people that won a gen 1 closer to 15 years ago than not aren't going to even see the email and if they do they'll probably just read and delete. A lot of the names that folks are probably thinking of moved on in life and probably couldn't play at the levels that they did previously. I do think that they should expand beyond just hall of fame. Honestly, I'd make it open invite. Considering that they fell well under 11k players, I don't think that exclusivity is a thing that they need to worry about.

  • Qualification: Best method beyond Top 100? How to distribute invites across markets?
- There are few options depending how large the world you want to be, but you should be aiming to make these worlds as big as possible. Once you figure out how many players the server and your team can manage, you can make the invitation criteria more or less strict.
- Some options are:
  1. Greposcore: all accounts with 100k or higher get invite
  2. Hall of Fame: Email sent (as most aren´t actively playing) - ideally combined with higher greposcore
  3. Attack leaderboards: Finished top 15-20 in attacking on a server (depends on your invite numbers) - combine with greposcore ideally
  4. Top ranks on active worlds: same as previous method, not really good as lots of noobs get invited, but acceptable in combination with other methods to increase player numbers
  5. Application: Leave smaller percentage of total invitations reserved for players who can directly apply to you for an invite. Lots of retired players won't be using same Emails again, but are still in contact with us active players (on Discord/whatsapp etc). Let them be able to send you their greposcore or achievements (to prove they meet the criteria you determined) and get an invite as well.
Summary: Ideally combine Greposcore with sending Emails to lots of "retired" players and make it possible for those "retired" players to apply for invite if they didn't get one (by changing emails in the past etc)
  • World settings: Preferred speeds, Conquest vs. Revolt, morale on/off, alliance cap, etc.
- Higher speeds are definitely a go-to, ideally speed 4 or 5.
- Definitely no morale!
- Alternate between CQ and Revolt (also most benefit for Inno), next one should be Revolt tho.
- Alliance cap doesn't really matter, but bigger ones are probably better.

  • Endgame: World Wonders, Domination, Olympus or a yearly rotation?
- Domination is by far best endgame for Masters, as it will encourage most fighting and spending.

  • Artifact: Same one again or a completely new one?
- It doesn't really matter, if you make the settings and invite system good, players will show up and spend. But you might as well add your best Artifacts, it is the most competitive world so the awards should be most rewarding as well
  • Anything else that we should consider? Was there something you specifically enjoyed?
- clear set of rules (you can just use EN. rules to save yourself times), and make sure to make them public so players from regional servers can adjust before they start getting bans.
- Make very strict Bans for botting and multi-account (just skip unattackable completely).
- invite based on greposcore should help limit alt account
- Try limit Boosting. This is a hard one for sure, but try come up with some partial solution at least (CS boosting followed by catapult boosting are biggest problems)
- Remove lots of rock island formations. Nowadays there are huge gaps between farm islands with discourages fighting, make the map more dense to make alliances stay in center (also if Dom endgame circle shouldn't expand too much).

If you manage to implement most of these things and fix the invite system, expect me and my team on next Masters to give you lots of money :)

I've been asking for a masters for a while and was happy when I saw that it would happen, unfortunately it is still a pay to win server. My suggestion was that you pay an entry fee of 50 euro and get 10K gold, that's all. With only 10K gold at your disposal you would have to play the game for real.

Such a setup would promote Grepolis' survival and attract all those players who are being overrun by the golders server after server.

Please don't bring up the talk about inno having to make money and going bankrupt if they arrange such a server once a year.

I don't understand why there is much of a restriction on invites - if purely not to drop alts - it failed massively as there seems to be a lot of alts there and made a lot of people unable to play.

If you do want to restrict - why not have a qualifying server with similar settings on the regionals and announce it, it was crazy that a slow speed cq and a revo server were the qualifiers for a speed 5 CQ! the last speed 5 cq wasn't included. those players probably aren't going to play a speed 2 to qualify!

Don't get me wrong, I do love boosting and do it myself lol but it seems crazy the amount of boosting that top guy did! I am saying this having build a lot of cs for our en friends to boost off me, but surely there is some limits lol I'd like to see a server which was a pure fight! lol

That won't help, only make the gab bigger, for pure players and the millionars players, the don't care how much money the have to use to win.

Limit BP boosting: Full BP fighting or defending with a red team. Partial BP fighting or defending all other team colors, brown, blue, green this will limit the use BP boosting. This is a war game, Masters should be the best players ... play against opponents not team mates.

If you have been permanent banned from any server, you should never be invited to participate ... never reward bad behavior
