I can't give better unit compositions guide because it'll different when you playing against someone. But my advice is to build your troops according to your enemies and your alliances need. For example:
if you have city close to your enemy and your enemy make slings nuke(let's say 3500 slings landlock), you can make swords nuke(maybe 2k) for counter it. Send it as support when your teammates send cs to him/her
