Catapults

i like this.

catapults need a strong land unit escort to be able to do maximum damage, and at 15 population they took quite a chunk out of the potential size of the escort. at 10 pop they'll still take a bit, but it'll allow more normal sized attacks to accompany a decent number of catapults :)

Personally, i don't care about the population... I don't build them because of their speed.
Currently they are not a viable option when attacking over land IMO.

Increasing their speed would be good IMO.

Personally I was a big catapult user anyways so this will only give me space for more of them :D I don't mind them being used more either, my walls are lvl 1 anyways. (Y)

This is only done early game though, after that 95% of everything is overseas. Not really a huge deal imo.

Yea less pop sounds good i guess. everything else about it is balanced.

Edit:
Catapults were pretty unpopular. This might be due to the high consumption of population, that's why we plan to reduce the required population value from 15 to 10.

Catapults are unpopular in conquest worlds because having high walls assists the attacker once they land the CS. This is because the defender who then tries to clear the city, have to go against their own wall.

I'm loving this i've got to say, this is a great addition as a catapult user and thankfully you didn't change the damage it does :D

Catapults are excellent for when you're making turtle soup! Btw, if you build more than 25 cats to assist your army then they won't do much more damage compared to the amount of pop they use.

Catapults are under appreciated, mostly in conquest worlds though. I enjoy using them as dodge-tax for people who choose to move troops instead of fight. Hopefully this will change the dynamics of the catapult usage in conquest worlds especially.

+1 support this idea wholeheartedly.

Catapults were pretty unpopular.
Catapults have the job of knocking out walls. So they are only 10-15 of them in a city. Surely they are not unpopular, and need no re-balancing.

I do hope catapult population is lowered, though I still might use Poseidon to take down walls more often. :p

I'd like catapults to have a higher defense against ranged weapons and lower defense against sharp and blunt weapons (for "potential vulnerability to chariots, horsemen, and mythical units (such as the Cerberus, which veterans don't usually attack with Cerberus)", though there are other blunt-weapon troops).

make catapults destroy buildings too

You can do this in the Hero Worlds with Stone Hail researched.

Less pop is a great idea.
Also lower in academy would be good. Most of the valuable research is on the highest levels...

I don't see any need in re-balancing here. Cats are fine for me.

There is no need in cats early in the game - because there are no high Walls around.

I haven't really used cats much because 1.) they're really slow on land, 2.) they take a ton of pop that's not proportional to their usefulness, and 3.) they don't really do much to a wall if the city is stacked. In fact they don't really do anything. The point of a catapult is solely to demolish walls so that foot troops can move in. Technically, they would have longer range than any archers so stacking shouldn't be as much of a factor in wall demolition. Although the idea to make them hurt buildings too might be worth looking into.
If any implementations are made, there might need to be multiple tries before the numbers work themselves out

i don't think catapult need any more buff - people use cats quite a lot , the only reason it does not show up as a "popular" unit on paper is because you only need like 3-4 , 25 cats nuke during a siege in revolt world. It knocks down walls and render gt useless, buff the cats and we might move completely to a naval on naval kind of war.
