(Every Monday)
I took this from the Phi forums (thanks Osl :) ), i will update it each week with a new topic about what is happening in Psi.

Every week, a question will be asked, which you can answer with your opinion below. There will be a couple rules in place to make sure this doesn't get out of hand as well as the normal forum rules.

Credit to Osl. :)
Rules:
Respect is key. Respect everyones opinion, even if you don't agree with it yourself.
Keep on the discussion topic, don't stray.
No egotistical nonsense of any kind, everyone is equal, no matter of in game rank or so.

"Is all you need to succeed in grepolis a lot of gold?"

This came to mind after a brief argument over our current No.1. Does it require skill to succeed in this game? or will just having lots and lots of gold do the trick?

Please, discuss. :)

Well it helps a lot, no doubt about that. But the level of gold used on Psi the first weeks will not be maintained for long. Gold is something that is used to get a head of the pack and when you have only one city, you can get a great boost from the use of gold.
In the long run though, when you have multiple cities, you have to revise this strategy and rely more on pure skill instead.
So:
*In the short run: YES whiteout a doubt. All number ones are probable gold-users the first weeks.
*In the long run: Skill trumps gold. Having a good alliance and playing smart is needed to becoming and staying
number 1. (though gold helps here as well, it is by far not as important as inn the short run)

I think if you gave the same amount of gold to an experienced player and a noob, the experienced player would put it to much better use.

I think we can all agree that a noob with 1000000 gold will not beat an experienced/skilled player with 1000000 gold. Gold needs to be averaged over the gaming experienced to make a comparison. Honestly, I don't think a true noob would know where to put the gold to make the best difference.

1) Hypothetically, who would you think would fare best from the choices below? (Player activity ebbs and flows skilled or not... let's assume that is the same between all players.)

A) a non-experienced player from Travian or some other game with 1000 gold/week
B) a 100k/9 city player from a 2.0 world with 200 gold/week
C) an extremely-seasoned skilled player (top 5% here) with 0 gold/week
D) B & C equally

2) Do you think that outcome is unfair? Yes or No

There is so many things to look at.. but it is almost hard to use gold in a dumb way so let us stop saying experience will lead to using it better.. one of the biggest factors especially early on is ACTIVITY! it just so happens that most users that are VERY active are also gold users.. Later in the game gold still helps a lot.. but players are not with one city vs one city so that noob gold user who is killing everyone on his/her island will soon have to start timing attacks and stacking harbors and if he is just a huge spender he will be taken out!:pro:

so to be #1 I think Activity is THE most important thing with activity u gain experience which later in game is a huge advantage.. but Gold helps a lot.. and it sets u ahead of a non user.. its just most good, and active players use gold..

is D suppose to be the correct answer?
I'd choose B over C because that 200 gold helps alot ;)
and I think if A had more gold, lets say 50k/week, then I'd say A has a good chance of survival (considering noob will not always stay a noob)

I think no. It will give you a much better chance of succeeding but in no way will it guarantee you success.

Teamwork and activeness are what makes you a success in this game.

So, I'm going to introduce something new to the forum in an attempt to make it more active now and in the future. The idea derived from the DnD forum and should get people to express more views. All the topics will be about Grepolis and more importantly, Psi world.

Captain is needed in the long run to maintain anykind of sanity while farming tough ,in chi with 5 citys i dont completly hate farming anymore ,i quit rho mainly cause i hated farming so much.

Merchant helps alot since base +resources is always useful tbh -also it makes happiness better wich is my favorite god spell lol.
admin can help build up citys by using ur build times properly ,that is specially true about in non morale world where your points dont matter as much and building up you citys beyond revolt is actually a big goal .

Commander should be used in morale worlds later since it will nerf morale % abit - you can always attack people at 100% morale only but helping someone or taking a 5k city on a near you helps having that 20% buff . In non morale worlds having that 20% boost helps aswell but it isnt as important i think .

I myself dont use priestess - but it does help when you use serious amounts of god troops or are a complete favor whore who has to have every attack escorted by a spell i guess .

At the start of the world i think merchant and admin are needed to keep up properly and get urself conquering ASAP otherwise later i think you can actually live without stuff beside captain in 2.0.

Overall i think captain is needed to maintain sanity while farming properly+ 20% to navy is a big diffrence aswell ,others arent that massive of diffrence and even without captain you can acheive success if your even a okay player .

I think using gold to nerf your build times is unfair and it should be removed - having the nr 1 at 7k and 2nd at 3k says something doesnt it ?
