I need to understand why I cannot build or recruit even when i have enough "resources" & farm level is on 45
the message is "Not enough Farm Spaces" how do i increase the "Free Population" ?

You can research plow and build thermal baths (if you don't have a special building) or demolish some buildings and build thermal baths. You are at the point where you are running out of population to use in that city.

Thks will try , however I have to raise levels of some more buildings (ie. senate) to build a thermal baths !

Sorry to extend this thread, but I need to know what to do now (have tried FAQ) As I said previously I cannot build or recruit due to lack of new free population numbers. so how do I close down my city and retain (a) my resources ;units & gold . (b) I can't colonise on another island as i can't get a colony ship??? (c) can't move in any direction

You should see a demolish tab in the senate. Take your other buildings down some.

Thks FigTree2. did that ok, however I need 193 free population to release "The Plow" and i would have to demolish a lot of buildings to achieve that & it would take a long time is there any way out of this or is it a catch22 situation?:heh:

Aside from demolishing builds you could also kill off some of your troops. That'll free up your population pretty quick.

Well there's a few ways. You could move the units you don't want killed out of your city for a bit and have an alliance mate attack your city and kill off the units you want dead. Alternatively you could send a bunch of unescorted transports filled with stuff you want to be killed to an ally's city and both the transports and troops will die. Either way the units will die, you'll gain back the population, and your alliance mate will gain some BP. Just make sure to message the alliance mate first so you don't freak them out with an incoming attack.

thks for that I will try it (although i will have to get a few more transport ships as i only have 5 at the moment so can only send out 130 units )
