Proposal: To be able to migrate your population from one city to another in time of need.

Have you Checked the DNS and PSI lists in the Archives? Is this idea similar to one that has been previously suggested?

Only briefly, but doubt there is anything like this.

Reason: To give the game more of a life like feeling. As in ancient time when a city was in danger and there was no hope of victory, the leader, would make the population move to different location. So to give the game a more strategic and life like feel.

Details: If in a situation where you are about to be defeated, lets say you are solo player being attacked by 7 different players from one alliance, with no chance of hope, you could go to the agora and select your city and and select migrate, then the number of persons and troops, and then select another city (belonging to you) to migrate to. You would also be able to bring along resources.

Your old city would become a ghost town, however you would be safe.

Visual Aids: None available.

Balance: It would require adding new options for migration to the agora.

Abuse Prevention:

1)Once you have migrated you cannot move again for 12 days
2)For every free population person you bring along it will cost you 20 of each resource and 30 - 40 for each troop.
3)It would require the building of an expensive colony ship.
4)You would need at least 2 cities.
5)You will lose a city and valuable points.
6)If the other city cannot support the amount of population moving, you will have to decrease the number moving.

Summary: Be able to move population from one city to another to escape danger.

The simple answer is no, and the reasons are many.

If you lose a city, the population should stay with that city, otherwise you render the effectiveness of a given polis to be void, as you cannot build any ships or land units as a consequence, which would be game-breaking. Even if we assumed this could work somehow, what exactly will the population do in another city? Could I stack 2.5k pop into another 2.5k pop city and build myself a 500 LS nuke, or is this just an artificial movement with little effect to be worth implementing? According to your costs, moving 2.5k would cost 150k resources, which would be a very tedious process for little gain. How long would it take for the population to arrive to the designated city? Will it be slower than a colony ship given that it will be bigger and heavier? Shouldn't a city devoid of all population produce zero resources and favor as well? Too many questions and issues.

For the reasons that Horus stated I say no. Things like this have been suggested before and rejected. So please look at the Previously Suggested Ideas list more carefully :(
