New form of Conquest through land alone: Settler Convoy

Bednarski

Hipparchus
The Idea: Introduction of new Unit, called the Settler Convoy (or Settler Wagon(s)).
New Unit Usage: Conquest of Cities on Same Island as the attacking city.

I think it would be wise to change from Colony Ship (CS) to a Settler Convoy (or Wagons) when conquering cities ON SAME ISLAND. The reason is simple: Why not conquer through land when your city is already on same island as your target city?

New Unit: Settler Convoy(Wagons)
Usage: Conquest of cities on same island as the conquering city.
Res Cost: Less Expensive than CS to build
Research Cost: Academy 28, Farm 38
Speed: Slow moving but faster than CS
Attack Value: 0
Defense Value: 0
Offensive Land Unit (OLU) Escort Required when sending at another city!

What do you guys think about this idea?

Forgot to add. Population cost for this unit would be less than CS. Reason? No need for a ship crew!
I'd say, 140 Population Unit Cost.

So, to conquer a city on same island as your (conquering) city, a player builds a Settler (or Colonist) Convoy.
This unit is built in Barracks, not in Harbor.

Barracks Level Required to build this unit: Level 10
Population Cost: 140
Speed: 8 (can move over land only!)
Transport Capacity: CANNOT BE TRANSPORTED TO OTHER ISLANDS! (due to too high a population requirement)
Academy Level: 13
Academy Research: Settler(Colonist) Convoy (new research type)

would you have to revolt a city as well? honestly i don't see the point of this. like seriously 0 point.

The whole point of taking a city is that you have to clear both troops AND harbour. This I agree with 1saaa is a pointless idea. Instead of all these random suggestions of new units systems of conquest I personally would rather developers spent their time making the existing game work properly.

Every game needs upgrades and new additions from time to time and adding the feature I'm suggesting here makes perfect sense!

The reason adding Land Colonists/Settlers to the game is as crystal clear as it can get. Explain to me: Why would a city trying to conquer another city on SAME ISLAND continue trying to conquer their target through Water/Harbor with a CS, when they can do it for cheaper (cheaper resource cost), with a faster build time, a faster moving unit and costing less Population, a unit that moves through Land instead? Of course CS would still be crucial unit in Grepolis and you'd need it much more often than Land Settler/Colonist, because 90% of cities we conquer in this game lie on other islands!

Trust me, this is a good idea!

YES, of Course in Revolt Worlds you'd need to Revolt a city! Game rules do not change with the addition of this unit. It's only for conquering cities on same island as the one you're sending the Settler/Colonist Convoy from!

Very simple: New Conquest System:
Step 1: Revolt a target city that shares the island with your, conquest/revolt ready city, with a Revolt Attack
Step 2: Target city goes into Blue Revolt
Step 3: Calculate your Settler/Colonist Wagon/Convoy Attack to land After the Red Revolt starts in the revolted city.

All above steps are exactly the same as we already do while we conquer a city with a Colony Ship.

For heavens sake, do I got to explain to you people how the game works?

Additionally:

When targeting a city on same island as your (conquering) city for Conquest, a player can attack with either a CS or Colonist Convoy, or both!

This feature would give attacking players more options how to conquer a city on same island.
You could send a CS or Colonist Wagon/Convoy, or both, granted you'd have enough free population to build both units, as well as naval and sea units to escort these with.

why would you send both?
You can't 2 CS within one attack, why would you be able to send those two units at the same time?
Otherwise I do like the idea

At the moment you can defend a city with dlu's and ships, so with this you take away the ability for the defender to put a bir wall in place and force them to build (or gold a wall) while possibly being attacked continuously overland .. seems to be an idea to make it easier for the lazy player to take cities. So I strongly disagree that this is a good idea .. its one of the very worst I have heard in Grepo.

Instead of spamming the forum with all these new units etc why don't you toddle off and write the completely different game that you appear to want and launch this yourself and allow others to play the game we have :)

this would really change tactics tho lol, otherwise 100% agreeing with you

Not 2 CS. 1 CS through water and one Colonial Convoy through land. This way, if you don't take your target through harbor (because of a bir wall) you may be successful going by land. For example: Your CS attack (through sea) lands at 20:04:36 and your Colonial Convoy (land units only and the settler/colonist wagon/convoy unit) lands at 20:04:40. This gives the defender 4 seconds to be able to defend by both, sea with ships and dlu, as well as land (with dlu only)

It's a good idea. Only those with vision can see that though.

Your explanation why my idea isn't a good one is simply one of the worst and least sense making I've ever seen.
Yes, your ability to defend your cities solely with bir walls (especially in Revolt worlds) would now be gone. Tough, would make you have to stragetize more and think. Something you're unwilling to do.

I repeat: This New Unit would only be for conquering cities on Same Islands as the attacking city, over land only.

I have another question about it.

As we all know, right now you need to send ships and land units with a CS and have to destroy all units in city in order to get in (unless you launch with hydra and there's Fireships in harbour), by that SC (funny how the abbreviation is backwards lol) you wouldn't have to battle in harbour at all any more, would that mean you could only end a siege by killing all land units?

That would be another unfair advantage for the Conquerer, as you don't have to worry about an LS break, and just have to make sure you put enough DLU into your Siege.

So how would ships in harbour work with this. because if this is to work like CS' in revolt that means that ships in harbour could stop a settler convoy. This would allow me as a player to send one bir snipes to a city (which admitably would be quite funny). But, i think this would give the defender even more advantages in revolt. Same for conquest. not that i know anything about it but you'd have to clear the harbour in both cases.

So, why not use a CS?
