For school I read a book called "Spartan" Here's the poem I wrote for it. (Report)
Before I get a bunch of nasty mail, I don't like Spartan MRAs any more than the next guy. This is not like that. Just to clarify.l
Here goes.
Born was Talos the Cripple,
Whose actions would cause a great ripple,
In the pools of Fate and Destiny the same,
What did it matter that he was lame?
So old Kritolaos, he taught and taught,
And so young Talos, he fought and fought.
But then came Brithos, big hot shot,
Thought it funny, to throw you Talos into the boiling pot!
The Spartan warriors could cause quite a scare,
But just to stand and watch, was more than Talos could bare!
Revealed was his warrior blood,
But soiled was his family name, with mud!
But to all of this, Talos was unknowing,
Though he thought it time for showing,
Shamed Brithos what a team they'd make, Army of Two,
Uncountable are the Persians they slew,
Alas, young Brithos' time came,
Leaving Talos, Talos the Lame,
But so goes the story of the young Spartan boy.
Sorry it isn't very good, but if you have and questions, ask, because I couldn't explain the whole thing in the poem. The book is by Valerio Massimo Manfredi. Again, this is the story of a REAL Spartan, not a Spartan noob.
