They Remember.

The light that brings life, calls me on
Breaking through my window
The morning sun,
Greeting my mourning son
Faces familar to me, now lost
Blown away like dust in the wind.

It took hold, reaching down
Starting with my memories
And then my soul,
Torn away like an orphan babe.
The home, where love was born,
Turned to a prison,
My mind the bars.

The clay that created me,
Welcomed me back
Surrounded by tears,
Shrouded in black.
Mourners, forgotten faces,
But they remembered me

My family forgotten,
My freedom taken,
My memories stolen,
My life forfeit,
But they remembered me.
