Oh yes Discworld was a good one...the games are worthwhile to (They are from the 90s and available on PC...not sure if they are available for download, maybe you could buy them on Amazon)

I love the discworld books my older brother owned all except about 3 then he moved out and took them with him... not cool

Terry Pratchett is one of the funniest authors in print. His Discworld is often absurd, yet always familiar.
His plots are often extremely clever detective stories, usually involving a host of faerie-tale characters and their interactions with ordinary humans.
Favorite themes are his Rincewind stories, the Witches, and the Guards series.
Small Gods is a stand-alone story, also set in Discworld.
Sadly, his books have not yet been successfully translated to film - although some attempts have been made.
