I simply use them to take farming villages, between them and casted chariots I can take 6 or 7 farming villages easily without using any resources. And they fill up farmspace quickly.

In defensive cities you want to avoid spending resources on offensive units as well as research and these come in handy

It is good early on, you can build them without loosing resources. So you can continue to build your city while also building upa defensive army.

about the only plus to them is you could use all the god favour to build then switch the citys god and build more Why you would want to i have no idea
