But we don't actually want it completely realistic, do we? If it were there'd be no magic spells for starters. Whatever religion you are (if any) you probably don't believe in the Ancient Greek gods or their ability to affect the real world.

Although you're absolutely right that it would add an extra bit of realism to the game, it necessarily brings with it complications in its implementation and it's these complications that, I believe, outweigh the benefits to the game. We all send ls to escort our transports and have whole cities dedicated to naval attack so I've never seen it to be a problem that they have no inherent firepower.

Not only that, you can't tell me it doesn't bring a massive smile to your face when some noob sends his entire army to attack your new city and gets it all sunk by 1 bireme. It happens so often and it never gets less funny.

The current system actually makes sense to me.

Transports ships are just meant for carrying troops over the sea, not for naval combat. By that logic, even if the troops on board (slingers) throw their "stones" at the opponent's naval ships, it won't do anything. Ships are built for combat, and won't collapse by getting hit with a stone(s).

This is ancient Greece, basically. So a wooden ship ramming into another wooden ship will cause some sort of damage.

Depends on speed and how well the ship was built also.

and about the anicent gods etc... not be realistic they kinda are? they was believed to be real in the time, thats the whole point

Do you have actually evidence so say they was not real :p

The idea is that Biremes are higher quality ships, and Transports are lower quality. Since Transports aren't built for ramming into other ships, they shatter when they do it at high speeds. Meanwhile, Biremes have better quality hulls so are unaffected.

and about the anicent gods
Ancient Aliens!!
Love their shows but they not convincing in the least

Maybe you lose only 1 transport per enemy ship (LS, bireme or trireme)

So if you send 30 unescorted transports and enemy has 15 bireme and 5 LS in harbor
You lose 20 transports plus troops enemy loses nothing
10 transports and troops make it to the beach

If their was 30 LS in harbor you would lose the entire 30 unescorted transports
for no losses to the LS

Its not about the fighting ability of the ships
Its the time they have to carry out the mission
1 bireme could not take out 40 transports without one getting passed
While the 1 lone bireme engaged 1-2 transports the other transport are not going stop and wait their turn to be sunk

OK tell you what mate, let's get a couple boats out on the water and we'll see how sound your theory is.

Like you said, and I quote;

This is ancient Greece

Modern day boats, which I may add are not designed for warfare(Except for military boats, duh. Point is the ones you get won't be), Are not going to be applicable in a fictional version of ancient greece.
