So I started playing a couple of weeks ago and totally messed up my build in my first world(using this world now to try things out). So I started, on a different world and the build is going better(I think). Now I see Kappa is starting and I have an opportunity to start somewhere other than on the "RIM"(edge of the universe). I don't want to ... er ... um ... foul up my build in the new world and of course would like to have a nice tidy city for the experts conquer.

What I am asking is if some of you would give some early build tips. Things you have done that worked well on a new server and perhaps some milestones to follow. I think that the more people understand, the more interesting the game will be for everyone. This IS a rather strange plodding game(at least in the early stages)

I understand there is going to be an "If I tell you that I'm going to have to kill you" mentality out there, So bring it on!

Well first of all check out this guide

It helped me so much when i was new.

Secondly, i advise posting questions like this in the "questions and guides" section to get more attention as not everyone reads the kappa forums.

There are some very useful guides here in this forum.
Spend some time reading them.

Forum Grepolis > Grepolis > Questions and Guides
I think...

Besides that, join a good alliance and they should have useful guides in their own forums.

I don't think you realize this my newbie friend, but in Grepolis it's not exactly about your 'build'. What you probably did wrong is not build enough troops. What I reccomend to every new player is to make sure that over half their farm space consists of their troops, and constantly use those troops to farm farming villages... And once those farming villages are being used to their maximum capability (About 32k of each resource a day on speed 2) use them to farm players.

There is much ado about "leadership" in alliances. How does this square with personal ambitions?

Be active and raid the farming villages non-stop as long as they are above 70% mood. Build your city up quick and during the second week ask one of the top three alliances in your ocean in the to let you in. That best way to learn is playing alongside good players, good players are the ones topping the Battle Points Attack rankings.

Tip: Any army attacking a enemy city should always be accompanied by at least a fleet of 50 LS (light ships).

Don't listen to aicy!

have 75% of your population as troops. Mass Farm level=Mass Farming!

I farmed about 32k when I was just 1.5k points

One thing you must do with your first village is set up your troops to run at 50-50 attack and defence.
You dont want to be looking to specialise in your first. Remember that if you choose defence how are you going to grow and secondly if you choose offence you become a target especially once you are spied on.

Try making use of the fact that Hoppies are offensive and defensive in your first, they make great clearing troops when you get enough of them and you can then use your Sword and Archer to farm the cleared villages allowing you to move onto your next farm.

Chariots too... And they're better for farming as they're three times faster.
