Proposal:
My idea is rather simple. I propose that we change the current system so that when attacked, any attacking ships hit Fireships before they hit other ships.
Reason:
Currently, Lightships would attack Bireme/Triremes before hitting fireships. This makes Fireships completely useless, seeing that Fireships do not kill transports or cships. If, instead, Lightships had to hit fireships first, fireships would actually be effective along side of brims or trims.
Details:
Simple, change the coding to make fireships hit the first ships attacking. Meaning that Brims and Trims are able to hang back at first, allowing fireships to deal with the enemy ships first. Then those brims/trims will be able to have a higher chance of living, preventing transports and cships from landing.

This would fix a unit so that it would actually be effective in battle.
edit: Change the fireship build time to be the same as Bireme
Change pop cost of Fireship to 10 instead of 8
As for the cost, it can remain the same because of the long travel time of Fireships and the inability to kill ports and cships
