But I know the sun shines still,
Though the clouds leave me bereft.
One day- one day they will see,
That the light never truly left.
Any reason why this is the only sun in your entire poem that wasn't capitalized?

My Angel, Dearest Angel

Oh Guardian Angel,
Bringer, holder of the light.
The beauty amidst the dark
You bring hope to the desperate,
The morn to the longest night

I am but a man,
Aiming to describe an angel.
I hardly understand your complexity,
But I love you even still-
A love this life cannot quell

My words fall short,
Far from your grace.
No words so eloquent,
Could compare to the beauty
The beauty of your face

You are the faith I forgot,
The joy I abandoned long ago.
And with your return I feel-
Feel as if the world is smaller,
While I bask in your elegant glow

I will never leave again,
Nor set your heart aside.
All I wish is to hold you.
I will stay with you each night
Where in light we may abide.

I will not forget again,
My Angel, dearest Angel.
All I wish is your love-
For I offer this love of mine-
The love this life could never quell.

Forget Me

Forget me,
Forget all I am,
All I was supposed to be.
I failed, I fell-
I can’t reach the standard you set.
You asked for the stars,
But all I could grant was the moon-
But it was never enough,
No, you wanted more.

I became buried beneath regret
Beneath the pain, the failure
You caused me to be.
I tried to tell you,
All I held deep down-
But you wouldn’t listen,
The truth burned your ears.

I held out my hand,
Hoping you may help,
But you pulled away-
As if I would bring you down
To the life you gave me.

Am I this toxic to you?
Your child forgotten and abandoned-
I don’t understand your hate.

I can never understand your hate.

Then I will make my own way-
Paved by the strength I earned-
With old, shattered pieces of a love.

I will reach beyond you,
Crawling from dirt to sky.
And I will stand and watch,
As your withdrawn hand,
Forgets what it was to feel

I will use regret as my platform,
The pain and failure as my voice-
Using what you meant to weaken,
As the tools for my success.
You rejected my words,
So I will find someone else,
Who will listen and be inspired.

Forget me-
Forget all I am.
All I was supposed to be.
I failed, but I will rise-
Because your standards mean nothing.
You asked for the stars,
Never realizing you had me,
I was never enough,
But now I am so much more.

More Than a Pastime

I remember my first game system,
The Sega Genesis, oh the joy,
Countless hours each day I would spend,
Easily becoming my top childhood toy

Aimlessly moving Sonic around,
In effort to beat my prized high score,
But the system then grew old,
And I played it no more

Then something changed,
As I heard rumors of something greater
A new system to the forefront
A PS1, the start of cause for this very letter

I was not a popular kid, you see?
Left out from select games and sport,
But when I came home it was there,
With an on button as accepting as an open door

Each day I was bullied,
Whether verbally or by fist,
I knew my PS1 was awaiting my return,
With tales of adventure I could hardly resist

These games taught me something,
Something I will not soon forget,
That when the world leaves you empty,
A new world could fill the debt

As time went on, however,
My PS1, my friend, had grown old and worn
But a new youngster fresh off the line
Was now to have my adventures reborn

The Play Station 2, or PS2 for short,
A black slim finish, beautiful simplicity,
With new graphics and features galore,
I was overjoyed with what I did see

Year after year I stormed the system,
Playing into the wee hours of morning,
What pleasure and euphoria it did provide,
I could tell a new age was dawning

Finally came along my prize, my gift,
A glorious rendition, the magnificent third
The PS3 ushered itself in in glory,
My delight, I could hardly speak a word

The friends I had finally grown to,
Were granted sovereignty in our mutual desire,
Growing closer together by way of gaming,
A bond much greater than the prior

Now I hear tales of a fourth,
A system of much awe and wonder
One I now possess and play,
With new lives and mysteries to ponder

So, what did gaming teach me?
How did it affect my plain life?
Oh, quite in a simple way, I presume,
Please, allow me to describe:

Gaming taught me how to press on,
That even if the world denies me love
That despite what comes my way,
A life is still there to be had, thereof

Gaming taught me how to think,
How to handle two things at a time,
A skill I definitely will need and use,
Thus granting me a better life

Gaming taught me how to speak,
Both fluent and intelligently, it so seems
Thus creating new goals and outlets to try,
Opening a window to brand new dreams

Gaming, I suppose, taught me how to live
How to function better on my own,
Gaming taught me there's a greater life worth living
That even when abandoned, I am never truly alone

Good story, but might have been better as an essay rather than a poem

I am a Mirror

I am a mirror,
Take a glance,
Take a peek.
Look my way,
Tell me what you see.

Are you tall,
Short or large?
Beautiful,
Grotesque?
Old or youthful?

What do you see?
Go on, speak.
I already know.
I am the mirror,
Knowing what I show.

I want you to say it,
You need to, you must.
You’ve hidden,
Hidden who you are,
The real you-forbidden.

I am a mirror,
But I only show
Who you think you are.
Prideful or defaming,
Pristine or scarred.

I never show the truth,
For that is known.
Covered by lies,
Who you truly are,
Who you despise.

I am a mirror,
Tell me what you see.
Still quiet?
Remaining silent?
How goes the mental riot?

Let me tell you,
Speak of what I see.
I see nothing.
No individual-
Yet I see everything.

I see doubt.
Doubting you are worthy.
I see desperation-
Living in a cage of misery.

I see importance,
Yet know not your name.
I see brilliance,
Through you do not think the same.

I see beauty,
With no face beside.
Magnificence,
No matter shape or size.

I see a person-
Who you truly are, I see.
A person deserving of love-
Would you agree?

I am a mirror,
Take a glance,
Take a peek.
Look my way,
And tell me what you now see.
