Since the most likely people to abuse this change would be friends or players in the same alliance perhaps one could make it that killing a fellow alliance member's militia or a pacted alliance member's militia will not give BP whereas killing the militia of a player in an enemy alliance, a neutral alliance or an alliance-less player will give BP in the ratio stated in the OP.

It would take some coding but I'm certain it could be done. Really the entire BP boosting thing can be solved by making it so that it really isn't worth doing it, like make it such an small amount of BP that you'd be better off attacking an enemy.

Is this part of the idea? If not, it should be, as that is a MAJOR abuse point.

I do not have the time nor the patience to read through this thread again however if you have come here to complain about people abusing Militia to get cheap BP I am happy to tell you that my new idea has come to the rescue to stop that possibility. :p

Yeah, I seem to remember making one on that when you put up militia the units they kill don't count towards BP but it's iffy.

I like the sound of this idea, but I honestly think the battle system is balanced as it is.

So? it still costs the attacker his troops, so it's not something unfair.

The polling period has ended. Votes in favor did not reach the 75% majority required to pass a vote. However, the idea has attained at least 60%, which makes it eligible for a re-vote in the future.

I voted no.

Even though it's a minimal amount of BP, it's still prone to abuse.

I guess the main way would be players attacking each other's militia, for easy BP. At 100% morale, with low/no wall, losses against militia are minimal when attacking in force, so it's effectively free BP. Two players with a handful of cities each could get a lot, even if it is 1BP per 3 militia.

I know it's still technically killing things, but it's not quite (forgive me for using this word) 'fair'. I think it should only be troops that occupy farm spaces which give BP.


Edit:

With no wall, neutral luck and 100% morale, an attacking force of 800 slingers loses ~40 against 375 militia. 40 lost, 125 BP gained.

For an equal amount of BP, under the same conditions, 800 slingers will lose ~120 against 125 swordsmen.

Taking 1/3 of the losses, for the same BP gain.

That's not a very accurate comparison as militia has a much lower defence/bp gained that swordsmen. almost 3 times as weak, making up for the 1/3 of the losses.
